I met Paul when I worked for his father's raincoat factory in Rathmines in Dublin in the late 1960s. While the Rathmines operation was a long way from where Paul's journey would take him it did contain the seeds and spirit which would influence him.

For the city centre workforce in Rathmines Paul was a remote creature of wonderment producing drawings of his vision
for a future of fashion. A vision far removed from the mundane raincoats on which they worked while they were subliminally conscious of the umbilical connection to the sometimes fanciful sketches that he brought from Paris to Rathmines.

I extend my respect to Paul's family for me he remains an inspirational icon.
To all his family, I’m so very sorry for yer loss! I always buying his stuff in Dunnes, love it & my favourite. RIP Paul 💕

I bought my first outfit of Paul’s in 1979 it was a white safari suit and the lady in the shop finished off with a green neck scarf and wore it to a friends wedding and it was greatly admired that day,
Deepest Sympathy to the family at this sad and difficult time may Paul rest in eternal peace.

Rest easy Paul, I have the most ridiculously happy memories of our tussels in Lansdowne tennis club, playing together in Lansdowne rugby club and copious cream cakes in Bewleys. I always loved meeting you. My condolences to your beautiful wife Anne and family.
Please accept my deepest sympathy on Paul’s death.

I have fond memories of socialising with him in New York in the mid 70s when he visited the CTT offices. He was a wonderful man.

Rest in peace Paul.
I will miss his eloquence and style. Paul was a legend and greatly admired.
So saddened t o hear of his untimely death.
May he Rest In Peace.
I always was delighted to meet up with Paul normally when we both lived in monkstown when he drove the orange classic rover.

He was always witty and full of humour and the last time we met because of my grumpiness he gave me his tie .
As a male Costelloe he is setting new records to make eighty as the family mantra was three score and that’s basically it.

Condolences to Anne and family .

Regards

Bernard and Carmel Costelloe
My deepest condolences to the Costelloe family at this devastating time for you. I was a dedicated follower and his beautiful pieces are constant reminders of the wonderful designer that he was. I pray that your treasured memories of him will sustain you as you navigate life without him.

Deepest sympathy to Paul’s family. May He Rest In Peace.
Paul was a very talented designer.
I really enjoyed wearing his garments over many many years. They were
always beautifully cut and made
with gorgeous fabric, with special mention to the lining. I will now
treasure these garments even more.
We will not see Paul’s likes again.
Sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to Paul’s family and friends on his passing. May he rest in peace.
I bought a beautiful glass photo frame from one of Pauls first collections with Dunnes for my bedroom in the family home a long time ago. I always styled my room alongside it. It now has pride of place in my sitting room with a picture of my mother who has since passed in it. I always told people who asked that it was a paul costello frame. May you rest in perfect peace Paul x
My sincerest sympathy to Anne and family on the death of a beloved husband and father.
Many years ago now I was organising a fashion show in The Ritz Carlton in Powerscourt as it was then. I asked Paul for the loan of some of his collection that would be modelled that eventful evening. He unhesitatingly answered in the affirmative. I promised him I would take personal responsibility for their safe return to Brown Thomas the following morning. The evening was a great success in every way. However once the show was over I came straight home with my highly precious collections including Paul’s only to be ambushed outside my front door. Two men wearing balaclavas appeared out of nowhere jumped into my car, reversed out onto the road and drove away at speed. I was stunned. How was I going to tell Paul the following morning what had happened. I have been and will be forever grateful to Paul for the generousity, kindness and compassion he showed towards me in dealing with the issue. Paul’s primary concern was my welfare and not his collection.
What a response!!!.
We have lost an icon in every sense of that word.
Condolences to Paul’s family and friends whom mourn his loss may he rest in everlasting peace 🙏
