My nieces across the road and I used to walk the dogs, and sure we’d have great chats after We joked and discussed the fragility of life and you just felt so welcomed and cared for What a fabulous couple

The last time we popped over a few months ago, we stayed lots longer than intended. I would not have wanted to leave if I’d known that was the last time to chat That was it, there never would be another chance

Just struck me how important it is to take time to chat, because you never know when it’s going to be the last chance Leaving their house that night, I never would have guessed that was the finale and Paul would take a bow and would leave the stage tragically a mere 2 months later

We worked together many years ago, and he was an absolute joy to be around—always full of energy, lots of chat (sometimes a little too much of that, as we never got any work done!), and a genuine love for life and meeting people from all backgrounds. His passion for travel was infectious, and through his stories of working abroad, he inspired my own wanderlust. We shared a special fondness for the projects we worked on in Australia and Asia with Peter Jay.

Our sincerest sympathies Jacqueline Robert Tara and extended family on Paul’s untimely passing. Paul was the loveliest man, so kind gentle and had time for everyone. He was such a lovely warm character you always felt so comforted in his company, and he was an incredibly genuine man. He was so gregarious full of banter and life always witty with great tales. He always made you laugh along with that great voice and smile. He would do anything to help anyone. Everyone always spoke so highly of him. He loved you all so dearly and always talked constantly with love and pride about you his beloved family. We shall miss him dreadfully he is simply irreplaceable, truly one of a kind. He was a wonderful neighbour and a great friend. Ar dheis De go raibh anam dilis.

I first met my beloved cousin Paul on my first visit to Ireland as a college student in 1981. True to form, Paul welcomed this virtual stranger into his brand-new home - then put me to work helping install a lawn, after which we finished off all the Guinness in the house and talked half the night away.

Every visit with Paul after that - wherever it took place - was a treat. Paul was a magnet for people, fun, good talk and laughter. Paul embraced life, and the people in his life, with both arms. He had a great soul, and I must admit that I cannot quite believe he is gone. In truth, I think he is not. Paul lives on in Jackie, Tara, Robert, his siblings, extended family and many, many friends and in our wonderful memories of him.

I'll be raising a glass today to Paul from across the pond. Probably two or even more, because one wouldn't do him justice.
