So very saddened to hear this news paul was a great help and friend when i started in the Library many great fond memories ,condolences to all his family .

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Paul (R.I.P.)He was a kind and helpful colleague of mine in the National Library for many years. It does not seem too long really since some of us visited him when he was a patient in the Meath Hospital ( now long gone).

I worked with Paul, probably for 40 years. He was there when I started but I don't remember who retired first - there wasn't much in it. He was always quiet, gentle, polite, efficient - a lovely colleague. He cycled everywhere and in all weathers. Then he suddenly gave up cigarettes, and with what he saved, bought a motor scooter and started taking holidays abroad to often unusual places, including Albania. I envied him his bravery.
