The most kind caring doctor you could ever wish to meet. His funny jokes etc would make you forget your sickness. He was a gifted doctor his likes never to be seen again. May you rest in peace Paul. You will be missed so much.

There comes a time for all of us when we must say goodbye, but memories of Paul will live on and never die. This week the world has lost a gentleman who was a vibrant, friendly, and caring person. Paul was an inspirational, brave man who found and fulfilled his purpose in life with such exemplary professionalism, enthusiasm and carried it all off with such lovely style who was always part of everyone's life, who had time and a kind word for everyone he came into contact with, no matter their station in this world. My thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.

Paul’s love of life touched everyone he came into contact with. His joviality and good humor will always echo in the corridors of Barrington’s Hospital. To family members, friends and patients alike, his two greatest assets were his genuine compassion and his unbridled courage. His research insights were decades ahead of their time. He came from Galway, he loved Kerry, but it was the people of Limerick at all levels and across the political divide, who understood him best. Limerick gave Paul the latitude to develop and grow as an entrepreneur. The partnership between Limerick and Paul O’Byrne was truly amazing, and where other cautious cities might have found excuses to turn his energy and enthusiasm down, to their eternal credit, the people of Limerick embraced his flair and added a bit of their own. Paul’s legacy could not be better served, that by the emergence of Limerick as the home-grown entrepreneurial capital of Ireland. H.

My sincere condolences on the death of Paul. Not only was he a brilliant surgeon ..he operated on my veins in Aut Even, Kilkenny..but he was a really genuinely caring gentleman. His work is done. A huge loss not only to his family but to the medical profession.Requiescat in pacem.
