Sincere condolences to Peggy and the entire O'Reilly family on the untimely passing of Paul (RIP). Paul and I spent many years on the daily Thurles - Limerick rail commute. In addition, we car-pooled from Thurles during periods of industrial unrest on the railways. A tight squeeze in my FIAT Bambino of the day, but great company! One of nature's gentlemen,
may his gentle soul rest in peace.

The vision and energy that Paul brought to the promotion of the visual arts in Limerick was inspirational and had a profound impact on generations, especially of young students. Paul will be remembered for his development of Limerick City Gallery, for his inclusive attitude towards artists and audience, also as a great painter. We were fortunate to have him and he enriched our lives.

Really sad to hear of Paul's death. My sympathies to Peggy and all the extended families. Paul played such a huge part in so many artists' lives and not least in Janet's. She praised him so highly and so regularly I felt I knew him. May Paul rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of the sad passing of Paul, he was not only a gentleman but a gentle man and a colossus in the art world.I have great memories of Paul this towering figure in the art school in Georges Quay Pissaro-like just returned from Mexico and of his Mexican table he used to create with fruits, masks, skulls, candles etc. Always entertaining and inspiring in his teaching I have to thank him as he introduced me to Mexican muralists. It was lovely to have known him as an artist and a great man, he will be missed. Condolences to all of the family.

Very sad to learn of Paul's death. His contribution to the visual arts in Limerick and in Ireland generally was exceptional, always given with quiet erudition, unfussy efficiency, and innate courtesy. Sincere condolences to Siobhan on this great loss and to your mother, siblings and wider family.

Paul lent a nobility to the life of an artist, to what can often seem to many a foolish and and wasteful way to spend your life. He encouraged so many young artists in his year as teacher, curator and director of Limerick City Gallery. I was lucky to have the privilege to have been one if his students in LSAD in the 80s.

Dear Peggy and all in Paul’s family, we both send our sincere sympathies. Paul was and is a giant in the contemporary arts and made the global, local.
