Condolences to Pauls family. When we visit Arklow, where we both lived in our teenage years, we always buy an ice-cream in the shop that was Doyles on Harbour Rd. We then go to the South Quay and remember the old days when Arklow was booming. Paul was part and parcel of that area of the South Quay. We will miss his presence, being a part of old Arklow. Rest in Peace, Paul.

Paul is a character that I have had the pleasure of knowing all my life. I was privileged to grow up in the harbour with such a smiling, funny, quick witted character. No matter what the weather or season, Paul always had a cheerful smile. We never did get you out rowing even though you promised every week!

Paul was such a favourite of mine. Tolerating my mediocre net mending and terrible sea legs! He was always generous to me and my son, Alex, and we will miss stopping by for a cuppa whenever we’re home visiting. I am glad we had a chance to have a hug and a goodbye last week. We will miss you forever.
