Paul (Pól) Shanahan (O'Seanachain)

Sincere sympathy to the Shanahan family on the death of Paul.

I have so many memories of Paul over a lifetime, from the early years in Sunday's Well, to the time in Ballincollig and finally the years in Dripsey where he always gave me a warm welcome and provided me with a bed when I went to visit his mother, my aunt Angela.

The last time I saw Paul was several years ago at the funeral of my brother Seamas following his untimely death. Paul travelled from Cork to pay his respects and offer condolences. Now sadly Paul himself has died too soon and also at too young an age.

May they rest in peace.

My condolences to Cyril, Tom and all the Shanahan family. Many happy memories working with Paul in the Oriel. What a great establishment he and Cyril created in the 80s and 90s there that a generation of Ballincollig folk still recall with such fondness. Rest in Peace.

I first met Pól in Christian Brothers College and found him to be a warm, funny and gentle person. He was a man of integrity. It was a blessing to spend some time with him before Christmas. May Pól be at peace.

Very upsetting to hear about the passing of Mr O'Seanachain. He was such a wonderful and kind teacher, who really cared about his students. He was my 4th year career guidance counselor and pointed me in the direction of my current career path, something I'll always be grateful for. May he rest in peace.

A whole generation in Ballincollig will forever remember the good days enjoyed by those of us that met Paul in his time working in The Oriel House. Rest in Peace.

My deepest sympathy to all Pól's family. He was a wonderful friend and colleague and left so many happy memories of school trips to Europe, long walks with the dogs, long lunches and many cups of coffee (with at least two shots of espresso for him!). He will be sadly missed.

Pól will be widely missed by colleagues in the Cork branch of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors where he played an active role over many years. Pól gave service as branch Treasurer, PRO and National Executive representative. His warm and supportive presence was much appreciated by all his colleagues.
