So sorry to hear of Paul's passing, one great guy always good for a few laughs . My condolences go to all the family at this time
I'm so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Such a gentleman. I always enjoyed bumping into Paul for however brief the chat was. Greatly regarded and respected by all who knew Paul in his community of Malahide and beyond. I only recently met someone through work who knew Paul from New York and was recounting great memories and spoke so highly of him. To Fran, Laura, Patrick, and to the extended Powell family, please accept my deepest sympathies and know that Paul and you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Fran, Laura and Patrick, our deepest condolences to you and your extended families on Paul's passing. We feel honored to have known Paul and have many great memories of our time in Stephen's Green. Rest in Peace Paul.
Sending love to Paddy and all of Paul's family. He was always a gent and had a kind word to say about everyone, every time we met. May he rest in peace.

To my pal Adrienne, my deepest condolences on the very sad loss of your brother Paul. My extended condolences also to Fran, Laura, Patrick, the Powell family & McCarron family at this very difficult time. I was truly shocked to hear of Paul's passing and terribly saddened for all who loved him, particularly his close-knit family. I found Paul to be such a genuine, down to earth guy who exuded warmth and kindness and who always went out of his way to make you feel so welcome. What a privilege it was to attend the celebration of Paul's life and learn how Fran met "the love of her life". It was really lovely to hear stories of their family life together and so beautifully expressed by Fran. Laura and Patrick's equally touching tributes to their wonderful Dad made it a day that I'll remember fondly. R.I.P. Paul x
Sincere condolences to Fran, Laura and Patrick.

Condolences to Fran and family.
For so many of us young, displaced families during the 1980s in Queens, Paul’s Stephen’s Green Bar served as our community church. Whether or not you dragged the kids to mass on Sunday, the fun-day ahead started with the gathering of the Shamrock Soccer Club outside the bar before setting off for the venue.
Wherever the location, whatever the result, our expanding tribe always had a lot of fun which needless to say carried on back at Stephen’s Green under the keen eye of Mr. Powell.
From the newborns to the grannies everyone revelled in the magical energy of our little band of brothers and sisters. Sunday was the pause in the mundane pursuits of the week and Paul, AKA Poweller, provided the ‘Public Home’ for our weekly communion.
There was chat, slagging and deep conversations, relationships began at the Green, and for sure some ended. The kids always looked forward to the Christmas Party and we have fond memories of the various shapes and sizes of Santa’s helpers who showed up over the years.
Behind the bustle, the banter and the occasional brawl was the soft presence of Paul. He kept a keen eye on the goings on but always managed to have a quiet word with anyone who was having a spot of bother, or he’d inquire about a sick relative.
Paul was a kind and gentle man and his contribution to the Irish Diaspora in 1980s New York cannot be understated.

Sorry to hear this news. I remember looking up to Paul and regarding him as the most efficient Barman in Malahide all the way back in 1983. A fast and busy worker, but great craic too. I hope he can enjoy a beer now now on the other side of the counter in Heaven with my deceased brother Liam, along with Norman from Duffys, John Fitz from Gibneys & all our other faithful departed who worked the Malahide bars in their youth. Another sad loss, but great that you made such a powerful impression Paul, and on so many people. Well done on a life well lived. Your family can be very, very proud

To Fran and family, so so sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. Met Paul in the late 70’s in Gibney’s, a very friendly, sociable and affable guy. He’d let a roar occasionally “anybody out there buying a drink?”, you’d be disappointed if he wasn’t working!! Had the pleasure of meeting him again in Stephens Green NY, had a great laugh. Such memories ! He’ll be sorely missed by all. May he rest in peace.
