Paul (Pudge) BYRNE

My deepest condolences to Paul's Family and friends. I was very saddened to hear this news. I worked with Paul in Ranelagh many years ago. He was a very kind, fun-loving, wise and thoughtful man. We laughed alot and it was always a pleasure to spend time with him. I can still hear him saying "lovely jubbly," rubbing his hands together, getting excited at the lovely dinner he was about to serve up! And it was always good!
Rest in peace Paul. One of life's lovely people. My sincere condolences to you all.

Paul, you were a breath of fresh air when you arrived in Northbrook Villas. No nonsense no bulls*#t shooting straight from the hip. We had many enjoyable trips to Bo Diddley's snooker club beside the Sarah Curren in Rathfarnham.
We also delighted in driving your honda 50 round in circles cos we could hotwire it but couldn't open the steering lock!
When you got that yellow pick up hiace and started selling logs on the side we christened you Logs Byrne.
We loved your stews and the griddle in the morning before school.
Miss Carr's home was a better place for your presence.

So saddened to hear the news of Paul’s passing. I have such fond memories of working with him at Miss Carrs. Woke up early, here in NY, to watch the service this morning which was such a beautiful testament to his life. A life well lived. My deepest sympathy to all the Byrne family.

I had the pleasure of working with Paul for many years in Miss Carrs. He was great man for the big bear hugs and always knew how to make u laugh. A great man for the stories and we all loved him dearly. He was so proud of u all Debbie, Charlotte, Donna and Paul and he will be missed. Sending you all our love and prayers. Very sad to hear of Paul’s passing. I had the privilege of working with him in Miss Carrs where he took us new ‘kids’ under his wing with ease. I have very fond memories of Pudge all through the 70s, the great pool team we had in the 9 arches, the fishing trips to Bullock harbour in his rte van on the small boats health and safety was out the window the good old days R.I.P Paul.

Rathfarnham has lost a true gent. One with a big, hearty laugh and a kind heart the we will always remember.

A full-time messer and wind up merchant known for his stories and his jokes. A man that has lived many lives and had a lot of wisdom to share.

We’ll miss Pudge deeply. When the golf tournaments come around, when Cheltenham’s on, we’ll think of you. We’ll always keep a seat for you for the Six Nations - though we can’t promise we’ll manage the Smithwick’s! Your laughter when you’d watch that clip from The Two Ronnies will echo in our memories forever.
