Catherine, Noelle, Conor and John, my deepest condolences. To an amazing friend who brought music, fun, laughter and years of friendship. So long Paul, rest in peace.
I heard Ronan Collins mention the passing of Paul Sweeney on his radio programme on Friday. I worked for a Government Department in Donegal in the early 1970's. I remember Paul playing the trumpet at a 'Mary from Dungloe' function in Sweeney's Hotel. Paul was an exceptional and highly talented musician as well as being an architect. I think that his brother Peter played the violin at the function Recently, I took a trip down memory lane viewing a clip of the Capital Showband playing in the Opera House, Cork with Paddy Cole and Paul playing trumpet, which brought back happy memories of dancing to the band in Dublin during the showband era. Paul was a thorough gentleman and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. I would like to take this opportunity of offering my condolences to the Sweeney family on their sad loss., but they will have treasure trove of memories from Paul's life. May he Rest-in-Peace.
Deepest sympathy to all the family.

Heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to Paul's family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I only knew him for 8 years, but I was enriched for knowing him.

Our weekly Sunday night jazz sessions were the core of my universe for years! Paul modestly entertained us all, his talent immense; but impressed me most, with his genuine old-fashioned, kindhearted manners.

He was truly a gentleman and a gentle man.
Will miss our chats and coffees, our golf, and our years of music and friendship. Rest gently Paul.
Paddy, Helen and family.
