So sorry to hear of Paulas passing. Played with Paula and then remembered her calling to ask would I start a Special Olympics basketball team for young players. We had a number of great years as Mount Argus Tigers and the family were a big part of the club. Paul, Hannah,Ethan and Max thoughts are with you all.

I knew Paula for many years in UPS, she was a gem of a woman, always great for a chat & friendly advice, she took no cr*p & would be quick to tell you if you were out of line....but in the nicest possible way ;)
She never spoke about Paul, Hannah, Ethan or Max without putting 'our' in front of their names, it really showed how close & important her family were to her. The world was truly a brighter place when she was in it & she will be sadly missed x

To Paul, Ethan and the extended Deane family. I knew Paula as Ethan’s Mam as part of our basketball family. She was so friendly and positive and a good laugh. I’m so sorry to hear of her death, much too soon for all of you.

My sincere condolences to Paul and all the family at this time. I met Paula when she was 4 and we started school in St Catherine's. Lots of lovely memories including around age 9 sitting on the green on killala doing our crochet, at age 15 Paula putting make up on us before going to a disco, after we left school going on our first holiday to Ballybunion in July 1980 ..Paula travelling to Ballybunion on her own because she had to go see the police in concert in the rds. Paula got me reading Catherine Cookson books. She loved films. One of her favourites was the deer hunter...now whenever I hear Cavatina I always think of her. Another song she loved was dream of the everyday housewife by glen Campbell. She loved her granny Helen who she said used to sneak her money for cigarettes. So many wonderful memories. I will always remember those memories we shared. 🌻🌻

I can still picture Paula hidden behind a wall of paperwork in the office that miraculously was gone by the end of each week... She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she interacted with in the office.

Paula, it feels mad having to write something like this for someone who you’ve known your whole life.

We were never super close (you had too many nieces and nephews to pick from so I don’t blame you…) but you always reminded me we were still family.

Always the first to say hello at a family event. Even if it was an elbow off you as an acknowledgment or a hug and a “how’ve you been?”. No matter if it had been a week, month or year since I’d seen you. You’d always go out of your way to say hello and a catch up no matter the gathering or how busy it was.

One major impact in my life I will say I’m thankful for. Was that you were instrumental in me giving up my late teenage style of “wearing your jeans halfway down to your ankles” as you called it. Like any concerned mother (or aunt in this case) you would always pull the jeans back up to the appropriate height and remind me “this is how they’re supposed to be worn…” Trust your auntie to cramp your styles 18 year old me would be fuming in embarrassment when you’d do this. 35 year old me thanks you for doing it in hindsight…

It’s just sad to think you’re gone now. That small gesture of hello wont be there anymore. But we will always remember you and how you were a constant in all our lives. No matter how small it was.

I cannot believe how well you battled this disease initially Paula. You were an amazon warrior. You were my baby sister for years. I even persuaded you to lie in a suitcase that I subsequently locked you into. I am so proud of how you handled yourself throughout all of this. So sorry to hear of Paula’s passing my condolences to all her family. I met Paula through a local women’s gym. What a beautiful person always had us laughing but such a strong woman! Last chats I had with Paula was when she came back to the gym after Covid and she was the proudest telling me stories of becoming a grandmother and showing me all the photos she was beaming . You could tell her family meant the world to her. RIP ❤️

You took everyone by surprise with your confidence and energy. An iconic moment that captured your energy perfectly.
