Pauline was my Mam's best friend and was the best friend anyone could have, sadly my Mam passed away in 1986 and Pauline missed her so much (Nancy McCarthy) Originally from Athlone but lived on Glasanaon Road, I kept in touch with Pauline and always enjoyed my visit's to her house and we laughed so much and she would always feed you, because I moved to wexford I did not get to see Pauline in recent years but always thought of her, she was at my wedding many years ago and I remember her dancing the night away and was the best fun company to be in, she always had time for you and she always spoke of her 2 daughters and son with bursting pride. My heartfelt sympathy to all who loved her and may Pauline rest in Peace and I know she will be having a good catch up with my Mam and I can hear them Laughing from here xx

I first met Pauline in 1972 when she sat down beside me at a book sale in St. Kevin's Ballygall and announced she was buying my old textbooks for her daughter Gerardine as they were the nearest ones on offer! From such an unlikely start grew a firm friendship with both mammy and daughter which saw me going to Boyle in Roscommon, both of them at my wedding to Jo and us travelling to Sweden to visit Gerri. Never met Pauline without her making me smile and I'll always have a smile in my heart thinking of her. She was a true original and the family can take great comfort from her long life and that they kept her at home as she wished until the last days. Myself and Jo's thoughts are with Gerardine, Paula and Javier. They are in our hearts as we celebrate a long life, well lived.

Love Gerri and loved the Mammy, a true child of an independent Ireland, who always made me welcome for over 48 years. May her memory be a blessing. xxx

To Geraldine, Paula, Javier and all the family. I was so sorry to hear of Pauline's passing. She was such a big part of my childhood and was so good to me when my mother died. I remember all the lovely visits; sitting by the fire, drinking tea and eating maltana bread, listening to stories of her youth in Boyle. And her life in Dublin as a young woman going to dances and the cinema - she had a soft spot for Alan Ladd if I remember. Pauline was always so welcoming and made your home feel like another home for me. She will be missed by many. Thinking of you all, sincere condolences, Roisin.
