Today we said goodbye to a 'one off'. I had the pleasure of being a teaching colleague of Peadar's 'on the hill' for over a decade back in the 1990's. A proud Galway man (which he never let us forget!), GAA enthusiast, teacher of Gaeilge and Geography and subsequently a much sought-after Guidance Counsellor, Peadar was a gentleman who was loyal, supportive and full of fun (and mischief!). That big smile of his and the glint in his eye endeared him to everyone. The fun and laughter we had will never ever be replicated. Dympna will remember with fondness the many social nights out that we had both home and away! Peadar Og reminded me earlier of the nights we kept him awake (as a young lad) while we socialised. As Aine said earlier in her beautiful eulogy 'Ni bheidh a leitheid aris ann' - a sentiment so true. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Dympna, Aine, Catriona and Peadar Og as well as extended family, relatives, friends and colleagues of Summerhill College, a place which was very close to Peadar's heart. Ar dheis De go raibh se. Rest in peace, Peadar and thank you for the memories.
