Pete will be sadly missed by his many friends around the world, what an impact he had on the Irish music scene.
Surely he was welcomed into Heaven to a resounding chorus of The Fields of Athenry from those late great Irish musicians who went before him.
Sincere sympathy to family.
Pete will also be sadly missed as a Facebook friend, always loved his musings and songs and comments. As a Beaumont lad, Patrick and family frequented the Rendez Vous (Beaumonth House).
Rest in Peace Pete, we'll meet again one day

Our Deepest Condolences to Brian & Kieran & all of Pete’s Family.
Our hearts were saddened when we heard the news, “It’s a Long Lonely Road That Has No Turning, & A Sad Stream That Never Sees the Sea”.

Pete’s generosity of Spirit & Kindness will never be forgotten, A master of poetic Lyrics that launched many careers.

I am honoured to call him a Friend & Mentor, we had a lot of success together with his amazing song writing & storytelling to transport the listener to a time gone by.

Rest Easy My Friend with your beloved Lady Sue, we will miss you & think of you every time we hear the iconic Line “I remember Dublin City in The Rare Auld Times”

Don’t cry for me now as I’m gone, I am in the land of Song

May your Memory be a Blessing. RIP

There were others walked this way and so …
They were asking questions, uneasy in her fold
and ambushed by ideas chose to go…

Sleep well and deepest sympathy to the mooney family RIP Pete
I met Pete, through Michael Blanch of the Commemorative Committee for Victims of the Famine, in 2013, when I was principal of Our Lady of the Wayside NS, Bluebell. Pete made several visits to the school encouraging the children, staff and wider community to understand the scale of the tragedy of the Irish Famine and its significance for Irish society and lessons on food injustice and climate change. The children planted lumpar potatoes in our newly created school garden.
He gave a bursary to the school for music with which we were able to hire our first part-time music teachers and he gave a wonderful address to the school's Christmas concert in 2013.
Pete was also involved in Bluebell community centre and there was a moving community event with the senior choir from the centre, with the children backing a rendition of 'Waltzing on Borowed Time', his song about climate change.
Pete was responsible for the return visit to the school of President Mchael D Higgins and First Lady Sabrina in Spring 2019. Unfortunately, Pete was not well enough to be present when the President and Sabrina planted lumpar potatoes with the community gardening group, mostly grandmothers of pupils in the school.
Pete's contribution to the school and Bluebell community is deeply appreciated. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
