Peter BYRNE

My heartfelt love and condolences to the entire Byrne family. Peter was a kind and gentle human who I had the honor of only being with twice, but his overwhelming warmth toward me was a trait not often seen in the world and two memories I will cherish. May he rest in eternal peace, and may the memories shared with him give his friends and family's hearts comfort while they navigate this world without him. Sending all of you love and strength.

My very sincere sympathy to Rita, Edel, Peter, Bridget, Fiachra and Peter’s extended family and friends…I will remember Peter as a man of strong faith, a family man, a devoted churchgoer, a talented boxer and a man who loved sport. My father used to tell me about his boxing prowess. Some fond memories are of himself and Rita sitting in the middle aisle of the church at Mass; him keeping a watchful eye on Edel from the top of the driveway when she was learning to drive; talking to him while waiting for a bus on Aston Quay and realising how devoted he was to his children. The theme of Peter Jr.’s tribute at the funeral Mass was so original. He must have inherited his father’s creativity. All of your friends share your loss and, when we think of this man and of the great life he led, we will remember him walking down the street and say to ourselves, ‘He’s not gone far; he’s just gone to buy a paper in the mall.’
