Deepest sympathy to all the family . I worked with his father, another gentleman. First met Peter on the campaign trail in 1973 in that general election , that thank God he did not win. He was a great Irishman and we are the worse for his loss. Mass offered. To you all I say always remember that there has to be a Good Friday before there can ever be an Easter Sunday.

Peter and I were best friends at Montasori at the Sacred Heart Monkstown. We had great fun together . All my condolences on your loss.

It was a pleasure & an honour for me to work for him prior to his first AG appointment & again prior to his second term as AG. I followed his amazing career thereafter & went to talks he gave both in The Law Library & Haddington Road Church, a superb brain & excellent speaker. A great loss to his family and Ireland. May he rest in peace. We are in Spain at the moment &, sadly, cannot attend his Requim Mass.

We had the benefit to meet Peter and Maruja several times going back to 2003 -both in business and pleasure- and have very fond memories from these encounters. A typical such event was a dinner together at a converted historical monument in Istambul which lasted three hours thanks to the stimulating converstaion. Peter’s career was outstanding and a role model to me as well as so many others. Thinking of Peter we only have fond memories and admiration and respect. Out thoughts and sympathy are with dear Maruja. Peter please rest in peace after a very fulfilling life. Sincerely Helene& jan

I so loved working for your great husband/Dad in the 80's - a wonderful Boss/Friend. He had an incredible brain/memory. He always respected people with different views & ALWAYS was a gentleman, I learnt so k I was truly honoured to have known him and his lovely wife and family.

Deepest sympathies to the Sutherland family. Peter was a very generous man, particularly with his time - he helped me on any occasion I asked, typically it came about unsolicited asking my Dad, "Is there anything I can do for you Noel?", amazing given his busy roles in life. It always felt he was driven by an innate kindness and respect for others. He will no doubt be sorely missed by one and all.
