Peter was the lynchpin for the development of Basis Ireland, now Intel. We met him early in the development and right away considered him a dear friend and business partner. He introduced us to the country and it’s people. And forever we’ve talked of spending more time there.
He was as others have said, a gentle soul who loved life joyously.

Peter was a fellow member of the Patients Committee at Cancer Trials Ireland and he will be sadly missed. He gave off his time and humour in equal measure and always engaged fully in all our activities. Sincere condolences to all his family and wide circle of friends.

I am so sorry for your loss, Peter was an amazing advocate for cancer trials and was so kind to give his time to us at Cancer Trials Ireland. He was a great friend and colleague to me and all the staff here and incredible vice chair of our Patient Consultants Committee. He will be greatly missed.

Our sincerest sympathies to Celia, Michael, Martin and the entire extended McNamara family. Our paths crossed with Peter about 30 years ago whilst working together at Philips in Austria and continued when we subsequently moved to Limerick and got to know Peter's "children" much better. Peter had a huge appetite for life. He always lived life to the full and never took himself too seriously. He was always the center of "craic" and it was a blast to hear him regaling a crowd in a pub or invariably leading a sing song. He loved his sailing, rugby and all aspects of the outdoor life and took pleasure in dismantling any rules that impeded a fun outing. Above all, he adored his family. We will miss your beautiful smile Peter, your extreme zest for life and your hearty laugh. You will always be with us in spirit.

I have lots of fantastic memories sailing with Peter & the Macs in WIORA & Cork Week … the craic was always great both on and off the water . … Peter had a great sense of humour & he’d only love to sit back and smirk when he d managed to stir things up …. We always told him we were his best crew !! I was delighted to cross paths again with Peter in recent years and witness his determination to not let his illness dictate his life … he’d love to chat about his next holiday or adventure on the horizon. … however his favourite subject was his family whom he loved unconditionally…. …you ll be sadly missed Peter ( skipper )
