Peter was one of the good guys in life. I have lovely memories of him throughout my many CIL years. He was such a genuine soul, never one to instigate a battle but not afraid to shy away from one either. His charm and quick wit really were unique.
Thinking of all those feeling his sad loss. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Peter's family and friends during this sad time. I worked as Peter's Personal Assistant for a number of years. During that time I travelled far and wide with him and really got to know him well. I have fond memories of my time working with him and learned so much. Truly an inspirational man, he will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.

My sympathies to Peter’s family on his passing. I knew Peter from way back, he was a trail blazing and inspiring person - never settling for less than his ideal as he led the way, along with others, in establishing and expanding the Irish independent living movement. May he rest peacefully.

Carmel, Kathleen,Bernard Colette. Peter truly was an inspirational man,great company,highly intelligent but so humorous as weĺl. I've so many funny stories regarding Peter,he didnt tolerate bigotry stupidity or ignorance, his work with Independent Living improved the lives of so many with his tireless inspiring activism.His love of sport especially football with Donaghmede Celtic & then Trinity Sports. There were some wonderful photos of Peter on display in his home this evening ,charting his long varied & interesting life. I remember his book launch Rebel on Wheels in1990 about Liam Magùre but the title could easily refer to his own life.Sincere condolences to all Peter's family,neighbours & many friends. May you Rest In Peace.

As one of the magnificent seven, I looked up to Peter as I embarked on my Independent Living journey. Peter was a wise man with a wicked sense of humour and he was never afraid to speak his truth. Your legacy lives on Peter. Thank you. Rest in peace, my friend.

Sad to hear of Peter's passing. I worked as a Personal Assistant for him in the late 90's. I learned a lot from him and have fond memories of accompanying him on trips to Stirling University in Scotland and Benidorm in Spain. Two very different trips... but there were many sides to Peter that I was glad to get to know. May he rest in peace.

Very sad that Peter has passed away. A man of great intellect, wit,humour and fun. His dedication to independent living and the work he put into it was unmatched. He will be missed but his legacy will live on.
