In more recent years I would occasionally bump into Pete in Howth & Bayside and we would always have a great catch up.

We loved going to Java & it is our special place, Peter didn’t know us but every time we went (often) for the last 5 years, he would wave out & it made our visit very special. We watched him intently as he worked & could tell he was a genuinely lovely man with a big smile. We will miss his presence in Java, it won’t be the same. Extremely shocked and saddened to hear of Pete’s passing. We were work colleagues for six years in Java Republic, where he went out of his way to make me feel welcome when I first joined and continued to be a source of great craic over my time there. Such a warm, friendly, obliging bloke - I liked him enormously and have nothing but fond memories of him. I am heartbroken for his family, friends and work colleagues. May he rest in peace.

By all accounts that I have read and heard about Pete, he was universally loved by everyone who encountered him and that he was one of lifes true gentlemen. He will be sadly missed by you all but if there is any consolation from the sadness of his sudden parting is that he has made a considerable impact on the lives of those whom he met. He has lived a reflection of the love that he got from you both May and John and from Darren, Valerie and Joanne growing up at home and in later life from Debbie and his children Aoife and Max. For 5 years every morning when I would walk into work at Java Republic you were the first person I would see, and every morning without fail you had a nod, a smile or a wave to greet me. You were an absolute gentleman, with a fantastic sense of humour and I know you brightened so many people’s days.

You were always so obliging, the first to help or lend a hand if needed. You helped me so many times during client visits and made their experiences at Java so memorable.

But most of all you were a people person, you thrived on banter and in turn you created a fantastic fun place to be.

You will be greatly missed Pete.
