Sincere condolences to all the Power Family on the sad passing of Peter. I was fortunate to meet Peter at a coaching conference many years ago and he was a thorough gentleman with a huge love of Waterford and hurling.

Peter meant a lot to everyone. His love of hurling was infectious. He had a hand in nuturing many of our hurlers and camogie players in Lismore, as primary schools coach, and through club involvement. His many sayings are still quoted.

No words of mine can could ever express the pain and sorrow you are going through right now having lost the most wonderful Dad and one of the brightest of hurling brains Waterford has known. I know the fondness you hold for your Dad will never wane and he will never ever be forgotten. I can only imagine the wonderful and fond memories you all hold of your Dad and I ask that you hold them close to your heart as they will help you in the hard days, weeks and months ahead. I had the privilege of meeting Peter during my years teaching in Glenbeg NS during the early 2000s. My abiding memories were of fun with the children and great craic on the sideline. He inspired us all and you'd be ready to tog out yourself after his coaching sessons!

Peter visited the schools of west and mid Waterford as a hurling coach from the 1990s The children loved and enjoyed his visits .
He talked hurling to teachers over the cupán tae and encouraged and supported them to train teams and enter competitions.
He helped and supported Cumann na mBunscol in all their activities over many years.
His grá for hurling was infectious

So sad to hear of Peter's passing, he used to be our primary schools,Carriglea N.S, hurling coach. He was always so kind, patient and always messing and joking. Il never forget the fake hand in the hurley bag he would use to scare us, we loved it 😊 A lovely man that will be fondly remembered.

A hurlers prayer

Give me oh lord a hurlers skill, with strength of arm and speed of limb,
Unerring eye for the flying ball, and courage to match them whatever befall.

May my aim be steady, my stroke be true, my actions manly, my misses few, and no matter what way the games go, may i part in friendship with every foe.

When the final whistle for me is blown, and i stand at last at gods great throne, may the great referee when he calls my name, say you hurled like a man and you played the game.

Rest easy now Peter, thanks for all you did for our community throughout the years.
