Dear Siobhan and Family,

I was deeply saddened to hear about Peter's death. Peter was a school friend of mine. We reconnected (via email) for the first time since the school days in early 2020. We made a plan to meet for a coffee and reminisce after quarantine -- but it never came to pass. I feel very sad about this.

In school, Peter was a hoot. Of the entire class, he lived closest to the school -- and still he was always late. He was popular and fair and friendly to everyone, but he also had a wild side. Together with a couple of others, we got up to no good and had many, many laughs. But he never got into trouble! The rest of us would be dragged into the dean's office, and he would get away scot-free.

I was on the badminton team with him. He was the number one player, I was number four. He trashed me every time we played, he was brilliant. On our trips to other schools with the badminton team, we'd sometimes struggle to get onto the courts because we'd be laughing so much about some joke or other. Then, like a switch, he would turn on his focus and blow the competition away.

He won Student of the Year -- of course. He had no rival in that regard. He was admired by students and teachers alike.

My sincere sympathies to you, Siobhan, and to your children. I'm really sorry I never got to have that coffee with Pete.

To all in the Tighe family, sending you are sincerest condolences at this time. We are deeply saddened to hear of Peter's passing and like many, have the fondest memories of times spent together growing up. You are in our thoughts.

I had the pleasure of knowing Peter though our Monday evening 5-a-side matches in UCD, playing alongside his elder brother Andrew and his Uncle Peter, a former classmate of mine. Peter certainly lived up to the moniker 'Speedy Pete'. I always preferred it when he was on my side rather than against me. Peter was always cheery and friendly (and always late...). We have missed him over the past couple of years, since his illness and will continue to miss him. My sincere condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Peters passing, I only met him briefly on our last ski trip when our two boys had gelled like glue (messers), he was so lovely. Very sad to hear the news of Peters death. He was great company in Rosslare whether going for a pint or for a swim in the sea. Always so brave and positive. It was so obvious the love he held for his family. You will be missed my friend.
