Peter was loved. And always will be.
A private man. For today, a little more public than he'd have liked. Thankfully he was reunited with so many of you in Cork these last couple of years.
We lived together for 9 years, did lots of yoga, kayaked, hiked, laughed a lot and were engaged to be married.
We had many plans afoot for a summer wedding in 2020. The disaster that was covid altered our lives, incomes and eventually our living arrangements. The relationship never really recovered but some things didn't change.
We remained in loving contact and dear friends. He had been part of our family and carer to me when i was sick. Peter nursed me, loved me and spent a lifetime with me, bringing flowers, growing lettuces, pouring fine wines and lighting up my life.
He had been Grandpa Peter to the smallies and Peter the life and soul of a party very often to many. He was sensitive, smart. Quick witted. Blunt.
We loved Cork & Galway. Spiddal was our happy home.
Anyone who knew Peter also knew this talented, hardworking, gifted, man also worked too hard, too often.
Nathan was the apple of his eye and he was so very proud to be his Dad.
Peter wasn't perfect but he did try to be.
Many of us who won't be there at his cremation today will be sending up our prayers privately. My son Niall will attend.
Our best wishes to the White family, the Boards who he also loved and Jo and Nathan.
I am so sad he left us early. May he rest now in peace and leave only happy memories to share.

Hearing about Peter’s passing hit me hard. Coached him with st Vincent’s basketball and I can say on and off the court he always played with heart, lifting the team, and never backing down from a tough game. We’ve lost a true teammate, but his legacy stays on in our memories. My thoughts are with his family and everyone who shared the court of life with him.

So VERY sad to hear of the untimely and unexpected death of my dear friend, 'adopted brother' and cherished next-door neighbour, Peter!
We grew up together!
I was the horror, younger sister he never wanted but somehow we loved each other and had THAT special bond!
We 'hated' each other as kids/teenagers (he came EVERY year on holidays with us and I wasn't allowed to bring MY friend!).
As young adults, we had SUCH fun!
We fell out of 'The Oak' and 'Sidetracks' together on many an occasion and Peter was always there with his charm, wonderful wit and generosity!
When I moved to Germany (over 30 years ago) Peter was one of the first to visit (and even later to surprise-visit) me!
We lost touch over the years - distance, family (mine - 3 children) time and LIFE!!! got in the way.
How VERY sad that makes me today! Sleep easy, Peter! You were a legend - your kind, generous and warm heart will NEVER be forgotten.
Your mam and dad have you now in their arms - they idolised you as 'the baby' /'MY Peter'.
Your gentle soul has found its' peace!
