Deepest sympathy to Mary, Karen, Collin, Lynda and Petra on the passing of Peter. Peter was always a steady pair of hands and a calming force in our team, especially at election time. When issues arose, we would always pick up the phone and Peter would give solid and practical advice and suggest practical solutions. He had a great understanding of politics and electoral strategy and he always guided us in the right direction. During the Progressive Democrats era, he was as important to the national organisation as he was here in Galway and it was great to see so many of his former Progressive Democrats colleagues turn out for his guard of honour. Following the dissolution of the Progressive Democrats, Peter remained a true friend and advisor and he will be greatly missed by us all. Noel, Maria, Teresa.

So sorry to hear of Peter's sudden passing. I first met him back in the 1970's when he was selling Remington typewriters. Subsequently bought 2 Peugeot's from him in Arch, one a '309 diesel van' ... at the time a great vehicle. Always enjoyed the banter with him.
