We are saddened to hear of Phil Bán’s passing, he greeted us with kindness and his sense of humour every August when Aunty Kay took over the hostel. Terri and I know his jokes travelled with hostellers from Arranmore to destinations all over the world. Condolences to Nora and family.

I was so very sorry to hear the sad news about Phil’s passing. It feels like the end of a wonderful era. He was a very special man that epitomised the values of the place he loved ; Arranmore.

Phil was a real gentleman, always accepting of others with a great sense of humour. He will be sadly missed by all those who had the privilege to know him.
