I am deeply saddened to receive the news of Phil's passing. He was not just a loving friend, but a supporting husband to Sarah, and a wonderful father to Doug. I remember the first time we met in Dublin when he picked me up from the airport, and I will always cherish the warmth and kindness he extended to me in a foreign country with no family or friends. Phil's generous spirit and the home that he and the entire family offered will forever remain in my heart. May Phil's memory be a source of comfort and strength for his family, friends, and all loved ones.

Phil was an absolute gentleman, a bundle of laughs that never failed to put a smile on myself, or any others face.
I remember watching England v Iceland euro 2016 with Phil and him cheering on the Icelandic team!
Phil was the father of one my dearest friends Doug, and the time I spent with Phil will forever be held close to my heart. My deeepest and most sincere thought with the family at this time.

Phil truly was 'one of a kind', he was hugely proud of Doug and Ava, he spoke of you both incessantly. He had an enormous and generous heart & a boundless capacity for humour and mischief (in any situation & regularly inappropriately - which was all the funnier!). He read people like books, and his wit and charm were both disarming & enchanting. He will be hugely missed by so many as a cherished friend & colleague. Rest easy now my friend.

I was really saddened to hear of Phil’s passing. I worked with Phil for many years in eircom, and then again years later in Trinity. Phil was one of the sharpest and wittiest people you could meet, but he was always so kind, genuine and humble with it. He was one of the best and will be sadly missed.

Sarah and Mike and your families, please accept my sincere condolences at your loss. I met Phil in the early nineties playing golf and going to the races on many occasions. My abiding memory of Phil was that he was his own man and I will cherish the memory of playing golf with him at Rosapena in Donegal- we all wrapped up in waterproofs and Phil defiantly playing through the wind and rain in a pair of baggy white shorts. Phil has been a special friend since meeting at work in London in the late 80s. As my family came along he became their special friend too sharing many holidays and good times. We will miss the giggles.
