Sadly we have only heard of Mr. Gray's passing and wish to extend our deepest sympathy to his loved ones. It was a pleasure to happen to meet at La Garangeoire on one of our visits and I have great memories of being part of the group who visited Stewart's Hospital, which unknown to me then, most probably inspired my choice of career. Thank you Mr. Gray for inspiring many.

Nigel, I want to extend my deepest condolences to you at the passing of your brother Philip. My sympathies also to Phillip’s immediate as well as extended family. I’ve never met Philip, yet, I knew of his outstanding achievements as an Educator in KH, through contacts I’ve had there, and Kilkenny College through my wife’s (Neé Shirley) connections. You and I haven’t met for many years but you may remember me from our days in the Bank.

Mr Gray taught me history at King's Hospital way back in the 1980s. His teaching was superb, and he was a great inspiration. I went onto to do a BA in History and Archaeology, and eventually ended up doing a PhD in Archaeology in University College London; I have always kept historical research as a major part of my work. For some reason he crossed my mind today which is why I came across this. My deepest sympathies to the Gray family.

Dear Sandra, Glen, Stephen & Laura, deepest condolences on Philip's sudden passing. He will be greatly missed by all. I don't think a busier man ever existed and yet he always had time to stop and speak to parents and ex-students while out and about. He brought compassion and enthusiasm to all of his endeavours, but I'll remember most fondly how easily he moved from exasperation to wry amusement when faced with our teenage exploits. May he rest in peace.
