So sorry to hear of the sudden death of Philly. We only chatted to him a few weeks ago. A great shock. May he rest in peace

Phil was such a lovely man. My wife Mary and he used to share war stories of their hip problems and of having to give up the golf.
We bumped into him just a day or two before he passed, when he told us that he was now concentrating on helping his grandchildren. Typical Phil. He will be sorely missed.

Like so many people I was deeply saddened to have learned of Philly death. I offer my most heartfelt and deepest condolences to all of his family and friends at this most difficult time The sudden, unexpected and untimely death of Philly leaves so much heart break and pain for all those who knew him, as we now have to come to terms with the fact that Philly has left us. I have had the pleasure for knowing Philly all my life, Shankill, to Bray. to mending the shoes, to having the pleasure of golfing along side him. Many beautiful word and tributes have been posted about him , and they all contain the same sentiment. Philly was a true gentleman. He also however had a very special human trait , one that is sadly missing in todays busy world. He had time for people. Time to stop and have the chat, the craic and the laugh. He was always positive and had a warm smile for everyone.
Each of us have been touched by our own experience with him, and we will remember those moments with a little inward smile, and we are better people and our lives have been enriched by having had Philly in it. We will always remember him with warmth, love, and deep appreciation for the joy and happiness that he brought to so many. He will truly missed. His sudden departure from this life reminds us all as to just how fragile life really is , and how life is so short, for tomorrow is promised to no one. Rest in peace Philly.

So sorry to hear of this loss. I have nothing but fond memories of Philly throughout the years, but mainly when we were involved with the great Lens United. He was some man to have on the line (a referee's nightmare) but one of the funniest people i knew. The craic we had & his quick wit was legendary.
