I met your mother only once Temple, but I was so sad to hear of her death and the manner of it. I always admired her beautiful paintings. I just wanted to send you my sincere sympathy.
Fond memories of Philippa and her kindness and generosity whenever I happened to visit. Deepest sympathy to Temple, James, Nick and all her family.
Condolences to Nick, James, Temple and their families. Philippa was an extraordinarily kind and generous person, not least to younger people whose artistic potential she recognised, emboldened and nurtured. She was very hospitable and kind to all around her and who came into her worlds. Always very welcoming, able to casually prepare the most amazing meals, often for many people, doing so immediately after a solid day’s work in the studio, and whilst maintaining intense and impassioned conversations -- her genius with culinary proportions of tastes seemed like a parallel to her intuitive sense of colour relations and compositional arrangements. Indeed these deep and considered artistic sense and genius informed so much of what she did and made -- her gardens, architectural restorations, her house, her work in opera, designing and painting sets. A very fine colourist, distinctive stylist, always recognisable but always also restless and exploratory, humbly and thoroughly studying new phenomena in her work, from the magnificent gardens she grew and painted, to architectural interiors, to working horses in Kildare, and her excited discovery of Tasco in Mexico, its light and colours, and no doubt much else. I regret not having seen her in recent years. May she rest in peace.
I was very shocked to hear of Philippa's sudden death.

I remember fondly our get-togethers in Ardclough when she started the Association of Kildare Artists, which encouraged me to do more paintings.

My condonces to her children and all the family.
Nick, Temple and James

Dear Nicholas, Temple and James,
Thinking of you all at this sad time. How awful. Your mom was the most cultured, gifted and kindest of people, and we remember her fondly from her days in Ardclough. She was a great friend and support to our mother, during tough times. We will never forget her. Our deepest sympathies. Mary and Daniel
So sorry to hear of Philippa’s passing.I have many fond memories of time spent in the Old School house in Ardclough in the 80s
Philippa was always very welcoming to whoever turned up at all hours of the day or night which we were prone to do. Good times indeed.
Nick, Temple and James, so sorry for your loss. You may not remember me but we shared early school days in Celbridge National No.2 School so I feel I've known you all and your Mum about 100 years. In my growing up she always seemed a really exotic character and even as she aged she got only progressively more cool. A friend that visited her in Carlow over recent years painted a picture of a woman undaunted by the trappings of time and determined to live life to the full, to the last. Her sudden departure is I'm sure so shocking for you yet, even as little as I knew her, I think a long difficult exit from this life would not have suited her. Hoping that your happy memories of your times together, and the love and support of all around you, will help you through the days ahead. With sincere sympathy, Jill.

So sad to hear of Philippa's passing. I have fond memories of spending time with her in the Ardclough House, a magical place. She was an inspiration to me as a young aspiring artist. One of my favourtie of her stories she told me, was the time she met Salvador Dali, it blew my mind. She was a part of the greater Straffan area art scene, and it was a honour to have exhibited some of my work beside this truly inspirational, wonderful artist & lady. Rip lovely lady
What terrible news, and what fond memories of Philippa. Thoughts with all the family at this sad time.

For Philippo

Which Goddess of the garden
When young, did you embrace?
For such a tireless heart
Painted all your places.

Vases filled with colour
Horses in their halters
Hills a-haze with splendour
Field, stream and water.

Vigils of night’s energy
Firm brush strokes of toil
Framing that great legacy
Upon a hundred walls.

A perch from the canal
A house that filled with laughter
Where a bear stood in your hall
In Ardclough, of still water.

So comes the final frame
A painting called farewell
And one last stroke. For time
Has filled the canvas full.
