Phillip Mc Gettigan

It is with great sadness and regret that we should be posting such a tribute - particularly under the tragic circumstances in which we came to lose our beloved, Uncle P. It has been a most painful and devastating loss felt within our family unit and beyond. Uncle P leaves a void that will forever remain unfilled but so too, a legacy that lives on with us. We will hereon cherish the happiest of memories and regale the generations with stories of the fondest of times spent together (of which there are many) and can only hope that we be reunited again someday. Our visits to the beautiful Casheleenan will never be the same without you, Uncle P. Our thoughts, love and prayers are with Mairead and the wider family in abundance during this most trying and difficult time.

Only sent a few Christmas cards this year as this year for the first time in as long as I can remember, I wouldn’t be sending a collie dog themed card to “Uncle P” at the fit o the hill. RIP Uncle P xx

Philip had a varied life he was a very talented motor mechanic and took over the farm on my fathers death he became a successful sheep farmer and found his vocation looking after them. I’m sorry he couldn’t hear all the lovely tributes that were paid to him. Rest in peace Philip you are now with your beloved Susan.

RIP uncle P. You taught me so much over the years and had so many laughs. I still cant believe you wont be around when I visit Donegal anymore. You were a total one off, and the word legend I feel is such an appropriate word to use at this time. Sleep tight in Gods presence. gra duit

I am so sorry for your loss Mairead. Your dad had time for everyone, young and old. I will always remember how kind he was when I would turn up as a child and demand to play with his pups - Phillip always happily obliged despite how busy he must have been. He was a lovely man.

Deepest condolences Mairead on the passing of Phillip. He was one of the most interesting people I have known and we had many a good laugh together. I will also always remember how very very kind he was to my mother, for example, bringing her ice cream to wake up to in the morning! He really was a lovely man.
