Such a loss a wonderful lady RIP
Mrs Lees was a huge influence on my life, and is part of my earliest memories. As many have said, she was jolly and serious in equal measure, always dragging the best out of us. I couldn’t have hoped for a better teacher - sometimes you just get lucky! RIP

So so sorry to hear of Philippa's passing...such an amazing person and teacher
My deepest sympathy to the extended Lees family on the death of Phillipa. Phillipa and Ronald will be remembered as a couple who left their own native place to be musical pioneers in Ireland. And they did it with passion and with inspiring dedication. The Suzuki movement in Ireland would not exist but for their energy, enthusiasm and organisational skills. Then Phillipa took on the task of training a whole generation of Irish Suzuki teachers. She was charismatic, a strong taskmaster, a perceptive teacher and generous to a fault. Vivid memories come crowding back to weekends in Cork when on the drive home you felt inspired, the adrenalin pushing you forward to get to the next step in your playing and in your teaching practice. I feel eternally indebted to the woman who made an enormous contribution to my musical journey and can only relish in the memories. May she and Ronald rest in peace.
Sending my sincere sympathy to Joanna, William and Andrew on the death of your wonderful mother. Philippa truly enriched the lives of so many through her teaching and her training of teachers. She fostered a genuine love of music and performing that now spans several generations and will continue long into the future and far beyond the city she made her home. She will be greatly missed.
Deepest sympathy to Joanna and family on the death of Phillipa. May she rest in peace.
To Samantha, Vicky, Daniel, Andrew & Avery

Heartfelt condolences on the paasing of your beloved grandmother/great grandmother. May her soul rest in eternal peace. You are all in our thoughts & prayers at this extremely difficult time.
My sincere condolences to you all on the loss of your wonderful mum. “Mrs Lees” as she was to me for the first 20 years of my life and later Phillipa when I watched her tenacity in joining the 3rd level gang in Csm, had such a meaningful impact on my life and future career as a Suzuki teacher. Those years in Beaumont bring back so many happy memories both from her fantastic teaching and sense of humour. The legacy she has had on the musical landscape in Cork and beyond is far reaching. She will be missed! May she rest in peace.
Our sincere condolences to the Lees Family in their great loss. Its hard to believe that Mr. and Mrs. Lees aren't with us any longer. What they have left to us all has proved invaluable. We have the fondest memories of the concert rehearsals in The Annexe and the many performances over the years. The Bach Double still remains a favourite of mine. They will never be gone from our memory. May they both rest in peace. Xx

Dear Joanna, William and Andrew,
When I heard of your mum's passing, I was immediately back in Beaumont in a circle with the other smallies, watching Mrs Lees, a bit mesmerised. I adored your mother. As a student of hers, you felt a bit sad for those who didn't have her; she was 'our' Mrs Lees. Boy, she was tough, you did not want her gaze to suddenly fall on you in a performance, but she was also fair, kind, generous, passionate, and fun. I will always remember her with deep affection.
To Joanna, Andrew, William, Samantha & extended family .

Joanna and family. Our deepest sympathies at this time.
''The proof of the pudding, Declan, is not in the eating...it's in the after effects'' said one of my old teachers. How right he was! The respect and love for both Philippa and Ronald, expressed so eloquently, by so many parents and former students of both Lees, is testimony indeed to the dedication, humanity, humour, and love that they brought to their teaching...and to their lives. May Phillipa now rest with her beloved Ronald and may their three children be consoled by the love shown in all of these messages of condolence.

Dear Joanna, Andrew, and William - sincere sympathies to you on the passing of your mother, Phillipa. So many happy memories of our Suzuki days in CSM - the roll call of students from that time who are still active musicians, whereas as professionals or amateurs, is testimony to the contribution made by Philippa and all her wonderful colleagues over so many years.

Sincere sympathy to all her family on the passing of Philippa Lees May she rest in peace
It is always heartbreaking to say goodbye, even harder to a wonderful person. Phillipa as a teacher, teacher trainer, a parent even friend can tick all the boxes referring to excellent. As a caring, educational, cherished, admired, respected, exceptional, tremendous, (I could keep going) teacher, she provided her students with as much information they needed and more. My sincere sympathy to her lovely family at this time. She was a great inspiration to her students, I cannot imagine what she might have been to her much adored Andrew, Joanne and William.
My sincere condolences to Andrew, Joanne and William on the passing of your mother. I remember with deep fondness a kind yet exacting teacher in 1970's Ireland - a woman whose accent was so exotic to my 8 year old ears in Beaumont and whose words " jolly good" were high praise indeed! Mrs Lees was a huge part of my childhood and I hold treasured memories of her. Tonight I think of her with great fondness and gratitude for the love of music she instilled in me and the passion she had for the violin. I remember a little girl in a blue uniform happily going to her violin lessons and to Mrs Lees. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
Sincere sympathy to Joanna, Andrew and William on the death of your Mother.
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Ray, Denis & Margaret

Fly high Philipa
I have wonderful memories of you A very special Lady
Thinking of you all at this sad time
Some people have a profound impact on our lives. Mrs Lees (and she will always be Mrs Lees to me) was one of them. She knew how to foster talent, instil a desire for perfection and a love for music. She pushed me to be the best I could be. Many of us will remember the attention to detail and craftsmanship she brought to our group performances (and heaven help anyone who didn't know their bowings!). Her skill as an educator has had a profound impact on my own career, and I know that my continued involvement in music is in no small part down to her. I will be forever grateful to Mr and Mrs Lees for the many marvellous experiences they granted me, and for the lessons they taught me. Their legacy will live long in the hearts of so many of the grown-up children of Cork. My sincere condolences to Andrew, Joanna and William. I hope all these words of praise for your mum and dad will bring you comfort in this difficult time.
We would like to extend our sympathy to you Joanna, William and Andrew.
Our journey started with Philippa and (George, her violin) over 36 years ago. She was most influential in the education of all three of our children, not only teaching them the skills of violin playing with integrity with respect but educated them in life skills : dedication, tenacity, and has helped them achieve their goals in life.
Philippa and Ronald Rest in Peace.
Sincerest sympathy to Joanna,William and Andrew on the passing of your mom Phillipa.
