I worked with Philly in the 1992/93 in the CSO in Dublin. We had great foorball team of which Philly was the heart and soul. He was full of passion and drive.

I remember Philly as just full of energy and the craic.

Dear Anna, I was saddened and shocked to hear of Philly's sudden passing. Although it has been many years since we worked together in the CSO in Cork I have great memories of those times and of the laughter and craic that Philly brought to the occasions we played cards and the social nights out after football matches or after we got our wages on a Thursday. Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you, Amy, Katie, and Shane. I can only imagine how difficult this loss is for all of you. I hope that in time, your many wonderful memories of him will bring you comfort and peace.

Life took us in different directions and hadn't met you for a good period. Then this year we met up almost every week when you took charge off the tipp panel. Shocked and saddened to learn of Philly's death. We knew him well in the days our engagement in South Tipperary in the 2000s, and his work as Development Officer for the South Tipperary Community & Development Forum. He was a very effective, hard working, trustworthy and engaging colleague; we were fond of him. Philly's passing, coming soon after the recent early deaths of other Forum stalwarts, Tim Shanahan of Cahir- and the Forum's former Chairperson: Father Gerry O'Connor- then of Grangemockler- Ballyneale, makes it even more poignant, and has the feel of an end of an era.

In my 10 years in the Courts Service i only met Philly a couple of times, but we spoke often. He was more than a true gentleman. Always a laugh, always a smile to greet you. A man who was never too busy that he couldnt stop for a chat. Always willing to help. It was a great pleasure to have known him. May he rest in peace.
