Waterford Music were very sorry to hear of the passing of Phyllis. Phillis was a member of Waterford Music and her extended family were great supporters over the years. Sincere sympathy to the Doolan family at this very sad time. May she rest in peace.
My sincere condolences to the family and friends of dear Phyllis Doolan.
Our two families knew each other and I was fortunate to know Phyllis as a
wonderful teacher during my schooldays in the Ursuline Convent in the 1960s.
My continuing interest in, and study of, art history stems from those happy days.
She was a lovely lady. May she rest in peace.

Deepest condolences to Ms. Doolan's family and friends. I had the pleasure of teaching with her for a few years before she retired. She was a gentle lady and had a heart of gold. May she rest in peace.
An inspirational teacher and wonderful human being. Her classes were my favourite throughout secondary school. Condolences to her family.
Deepest sympathy to Phyllis’s family on your sad loss. As a young teacher she was very generous with her help and advice.
The most wonderful gentle teacher I've ever encountered. Miss Doolan always had my back & encouragement me to follow my heart, which turned out to be art. I told her many years ago that I was sorry I did not go to college & do art. She gently replied that it's never too late & subsequently, I completed a B.A ( Hons) Visual Art Degree in my forties. The joy on her face, when l told her, said it all. My daughter , Aisling, at the tender age of seven, won the Brigid Doolan Scholarship, & we visited Miss Doolan , to tell her the great news. She was so proud of her sister Brigid, who was head of the music school at WIT. She opened her piano, in the front room , on John's Hill & hushed me as we listened to Aisling playing some classical music by ear. The following year, as I went to pay my weekly installments for Aisling's piano lessons at the WIT music school, I was informed that Miss Doolan had prepaid for that year. Such was her kind, soft & generous heart. She died the same day my own Mother passed. There are two beautiful, gentle souls, resting now. Their work on this earth , finally done. ♥️

Like so many others, I have treasured memories of Miss Doolan. I met her first when she taught me in kindergarten in the Ursuline. When our dog died she gave us a kitten who became Fluffy, the family’s cat. You never forget kindness like that. She taught me again in secondary school for Inter. Cert. and I absolutely loved her classes, even though I had no talent for art. She was a consummate lady and a fantastic teacher and she would always stop and chat any time I met her in town. May she rest in eternal peace.

Sincere condolence to Miss Doolan’s family, neighbours and friends.
Miss Doolan taught me art for many years in St. Angela’s School. She was a gentle person and always encouraged and inspired her pupils. I remember sometimes she allowed us play our choice of music in her class which was a novelty during school hours.
Whenever I met her after I finished school she would always chat and inquire about family be they parents, siblings or children. She would say to me with a big smile to call her Phyllis to which I always replied ‘Miss Doolan I couldn’t call you Phyllis’.
Thank you for your friendship and may you rest in heavenly peace.

Phyllis -- Ms Doolin was my Art teacher ... back in the day ... 1976-1980, my Inter Cert years. She was amazingly patient & supportive of those of us, not even able to draw a straight line with a ruler !!! She provided us with ... 'a safe & HAPPY place' to grow -- each at their own level, pace and talent. To this day, I love and appreciate art, but remain TERRIBLE at it. .. HEARTFELT Thanks Ms Doolin ... You were the BEST... Your classes were happy ones -- from a grateful former student .. CLARE MADDOCK (Class of '82) ... And belated apologies, if sometimes we were a bit much to handle. My condolences to her grieving family and friends. .. Suaimhneas Siorraí Abhaile Aici.
Beautiful, gentle fun loving Phyllis .. Rest in blissful peace.

Rest in Peace Ms. Doolan. You always had a kind word and were one of the kindest people I had the pleasure of meeting. I was lucky to have known you as Ms. Doolin in school and later as Phyllis. Our friendship grew through St John's childrens liturgy and other small but significant projects that made real changes in people's lives. You made the world a better place. Rest in Peace Phyllis. Miss Doolan was a lovely, thoughtful and caring lady. Her art room door was always open for you to stop in and have a chat - you were never an imposition. In later years, if you happened to bump into her in town she would be delighted to see you and would want to hear all your news. She will be missed. Rest in Peace Miss Doolan.
I am so sad to hear of the loss of Ms.Doolan, my sincere condolences to her family. She was a gift of a teacher, one of two very special teachers to me - open hearted, encouraging and so supportive, especially to the more quirky amongst us. What she gave to me has been a jewel in my heart ever since, I am so glad I got to tell her as much on meeting her a few years back.
She was a rare diamond.

Ms. Doolan, your warmth, patience and belief in each of us set many of us on our creative paths in Art and Design! For all the art students who didn’t tow the line, you were our champion, encouraging our independent spirit and way of thinking. To others we were bold, to you we were imaginative and curious! You organised our work experience with mad artists, you brought us to galleries and opened our minds and hearts to the possibilities of being an artist!
You live on in how we teach, make and create! Most of all you stood up for us when it mattered most!
