I worked with Phyllis for 20 years in Accounts Payable in Aer Lingus. Her job involved doing complex calculations to ensure that the monthly accounts tallied with aircraft movements, landing, handling, and passenger fees for every airport in Europe. Phyllis would then pay millions of pounds, later euro to the airports. in When I joined, Phyllis would spend two-three weeks doing calculations every month based on computer print-outs. Later when Aer Lingus invested in two Apple P.C.'s, Phyllis would do the calculation work in days rather than weeks. Phyllis would amble off armed with the large floppy discs and run the calculations. When leaving Aer Lingus, I had the opportunity to review Phyllis' personnel file. The file was exceptional, showing a devoted and loyal employee. Noteworthy was that Phyllis commenced work at 8.45 every morning and worked until 5.30pm and that she travelled by bus to Drogheda. She asked for the opportunity to commence working 15 minutes earlier in the morning and leave at 5.15 to allow Phyllis get an earlier bus from Busaras. Her request was refused because this would be seen as setting a dangerous precedent by the management of the day!

Phyllis was one of the first people I met when I joined Aer Lingus and she encouraged me to take up foreign travel. I think a briefing on independent travel in Hong Kong was one example.

Sincere sympathies to Phyllis's relatives and friends. It was always good to bump into Phyllis to get the news on all my mother's friends and acquaintances. Phyllis's visits were a great source of comfort to her in her final months.

She was a wonderful neighbour and friend since the Rooney family came to live among us in Lourdes Square. Fond memories of times past especially our holiday in the Aran Islands with many of her good friends from Aer Lingus. All fun loving people. May Phyllis reap her reward in heaven. I was a friend of Frank in our schooldays and for some years after that. I had regular contact with Phyllis in those years. More recently I met Phyllis and through her I renewed friendship with Frank for his final years.

I first met Phyllis about 10 years ago through Medical Missionaries of Mary lay prayer support group. Her deep faith was inspiring to me and others. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis. I'm sure she was welcomed home with open arms. Comhbhrón ó chroí.

So sorry to hear of Phyllis's passing, sincere condolences to all her family. I worked with Phyllis in the '80s' in Accounts Payable and she was a very kind, sincere and supportive lady, we had the pleasure of her company for dinner at our house in Wexford in later years with my parents and we had a very enjoyable, fun evening.

Sincere sympathy to all the Rooney family on Phyllis' passing. May she rest in peace. I have fond memories of a dear friend when we worked together in Accounts Department in Aer Lingus HOB. We had lunch at the DUB terminal restaurant regularly, enjoyed long chats, took walks and travelled together and I was lucky to be able to carpool with Phyllis and her brother Frank when very few of us working in the airline back then could afford to own a vehicle! Even though I moved overseas in the late 70s, Phyllis and I stayed in touch through a close circle of friends whose bond has remained constant for over 50 years. Phyllis was a very caring and gentle lady and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

We were so sorry to hear of the death of Phyllis. A kind and gentle person. She loved walking and we often would meet her on the beach at Seapoint.

I met Phyllis when I joined Aer Lingus in 1960 and we became firm friends .
Phyllis had a witty, engaging personality and had many friends in the airline.

Phyllis had a calm, serene nature and over the years she never forgot our children's birthdays.
Both Hugh and myself were privileged to know Phyllis, her parents and Frank and his family. We did share in many of Phyllis's milestone birthdays, as she did in our anniversary celebrations.

I will miss dear Phyllis but was glad to know she was so happy in Aras Mhuire, and is now united in heaven with Frank and her parents.

I used to meet her for a coffee and a chat whenever I was in Drogheda. I last met her in the Spring of 2024. She wasn't well then and I lost touch with her after that, as I was unable to contact her by phone or other means.
