Dear Linda, Sandra, Adele and families. So sad to see that your Mum has passed. I have many happy childhood memories of your Mum and Dad, and still use the little tennis towel they gave me for Christmas nearly 50years ago. Auntie Phyllis had the same lovely smile as my Dad. Sending love to you all. X

I have lots of fond memories of her - and your Dad - as we were growing up, and how much fun I had learning to play cricket with them. She had such a great smile and a lovely warming laugh, always welcoming a chat when I'd meet her on my trips home from London in more recent years. She will be greatly missed.

So sad to hear of the passing of one of our best loved and respected staff members. Phylis was a fantastic Badminton coach who masterminded so many triumphs for our school. She loved the battles and had the respect of every student she guided in competition. Phylis was more than a coach though she was a teacher and a mother to all her students and loved to see them love all sports. She always spoke so proudly of all her family and our condolences to all who will miss her so much. May Phylis Rest in Peace.

To Sandra, Adele, Linda, and extended families, please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of Phyllis.
I have many warm memories of Phyllis, but my favourite is undoubtedly when my 7-year-old niece visited us at Halloween, and was disappointed because she hadn't got a costume in which to take part in the festivities, Halloween being unknown in her own country.
No problem to Phyllis! Inside five minutes, Phyllis had fashioned an Autumn-themed costume out of a black bin bag with some leaves sellotaped to it, and out went one very happy niece with the Spence kids!
Phyllis, the "Queen Bee", was a part of the community, with her ever-ready smile, willingness to help, quirky sense of humour, and cheeky "toot toot" and sideways glance as she passed by, piloting her car up to the shops. She'll be sadly missed.
