Attended PJ’s class in the Dean Kelly school where PJ did his best to teach the bunch of ‘mutton skulls’. I became good friends of his in latter years. He only phoned me last week. Little did I think it would be the last time to speak to him. One of life’s gentlemen. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to Owen and the McGuire family on the passing of P.J.
Had the pleasure of P.J as a teacher in 3rd class not today or yesterday.
P.J looked the same in my mind then as he did last time I saw him up town some weeks back.

I have nothing but fond memories of that year from spelling tests where you would get the cane (out fast) if you missed after your second attempt but not out of any badness his way of teaching old school now. Which I must say did work.

Been handed the duster to clean the board everyone got a turn P.J always used the free standing board on the tripod in my day.
Been sent to the shop to buy sir a package of biscuits.

Years later he still knew my name would ask after my brother by first name and was same with all his past pupils which showed his passion for the job and his care and interest in us all.

Rest in peace P.J
On hearing of his passing, I couldn’t help but reminisce of my days in the Dean Kelly NS. He was a kind hearted gentleman! RIP PJ
Rest in peace PJ. Remembering the good old days in school always a gentleman
My condolences to PJ's family on his passing.

Fond memories of my time spent in PJ's 3rd class in the Dean Kelly School, a gentleman. His after school leagues which for a lot of us was our first proper exposure to football.

His teaching and reciting of our tables on a daily basis is something that has stood the test of times with most of us.

May PJ Rest In Peace .
R.i.P PJ
PJ was our mum’s first cousin, Kathleen McGuane.

He and Owen were brought up in the next house together to mum in Feagreen. They were great pals and cousins together.

It’s a joy to hear all the tributes to the gentleman that PJ was through his life - as we knew him also - and all the people he positively influenced.

A great man indeed!

RIP PJ.

Our deepest sympathy with the family of PJ. During his time in the Dean Kelly National School he was a most faithful and constant supporter of Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna, Áth Luain. He prepared the boys with great diligence and made sure that each one had an opportunity to perform his musical talents before a wider audience. We are grateful for his promotion of their self confidence as well as their Irish culture, music, language and sport.
