I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bob who was on staff when I first commenced my academic career at TCD in 1996. I remain grateful for Bob’s guidance, generosity, and support during those early years. Bob was an old-school gentleman and scholar.

Please accept my sincere condolences and sympathies to family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time.

Paul (Ōtautahi-Christchurch, New Zealand)
I'm very sad to learn of the death of Bob, we toiled together in the Surface Chemistry Lab in TCD.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Heidi and family,

I was so saddened to hear this news. Bob was a great mentor and an exceptional chemist. He kept me academically straight when I started as a young lecturer in Trinity. No job was too big, nor task too small, for Bob to give generously of his time and expertise. His email from afar when my first JACS paper was published is just one example of his kindness and care. I have thought of you both often, especially since Cambridge beckoned you away.

Conor and I, send our love, condolences and thanks, for all the support and the many happy memories.

Kind Regards
Sylvia
Prof Lloyd’s spirited inorganic chemistry lectures to us as undergraduates are still remembered decades later. He was a great and very respected presence on the Trinity College campus in Dublin. Very sorry to hear of his passing and condolences to his family from a grateful undergraduate student of the 1980s. May he rest in peace.
Deepest condolences to the Lloyd family. Rest in peace Bob 🙏🙏
