I came to know my friend and colleague David through a dozen or so visits to Kuwait University from Canada over about a decade, during which we shared much professional and social time together. In a nutshell, he had a strong and challenging intellect, a warm heart, and a wry sense of humour. My last visit was in 2012, but we stayed in touch, sharing insights. I am sad to think of his passing, yet so very glad to have known him, to have gained some wisdom though him, and to have shared quality time with this good man.

For his family, please accept my condolences.
