To Niall and the Finnegan family. Sincere condolences on the passing of your dear father.

Prof Finnegan was a wonderful physician and teacher. He was a great role model for medical students and doctors throughout his career. He gave great service to the community over a long career. It is nice that he was granted a deserved long retirement with his family, enjoying other interests, including the arts and sports.

I would also like to remember his late sister, Mary, with whom I worked at UCHG. Mary was a wonderful person and a great Nurse.

May Prof Pat Finnegan Rest in Peace.

Deepest sympathy to Anne and the Finnegan family on the death of Professor Pat Finnegan. He was an outstanding physician and clinical teacher, expecting a high standard of his staff and students. In retrospect, he put in a huge effort in his teaching role, all done with a sense of humour behind it all. Little did we know we would become life partners on his ward round. May he rest in peace

Sincere sympathy to Emer, Nuala, Niall, Anne and the extended family on the death of Pat. I had the good fortune to have been an Intern with him in 1977 after he returned from the UK. Being from Kilrickle helped and Pat kept an eye on me and offered wisdom and advice over the following years in the Regional. I enjoyed Máire and Pat’s company at many conferences. He was a gifted teacher with amazing acumen. I was very lucky to have known him. May he forever rest in peace.
Very sorry for your loss, Nuala and family. May Pat rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to the Finnegan family. There are countless patients who benefited from the Professor's innovation as he pioneered the introduction of home based non-invasive ventilation. It was a privilege to spend some time supporting these services in years past and his clinical skills and compassionate manner endeared him to his patients, who held him in the highest regard.
Decades later, it was a real privilege to play a small part as CEO of GCIL where our homecare team supported Prof Pat in Galway, our team remember him fondly. Ní fheicfimid a leithéid arís.

My deepest sympathy to the Finnegan family. I had the privilege of working for him as an intern when he was a relatively new consultant. He was a firm but also a considerate and fair mentor; ward rounds could be challenging due to his exacting standards but lessons learned then stayed with me throughout my career.
