Dear Mona,
We wish you and the family our sincere sympathy on the death of Rory. This is a huge loss to you all and also to the wider community where he was held in the highest regard. You can indeed celebrate his many achievements. Our warmest best wishes go to you at this time.
My condolences to Mona and family. I was just mentioning Mona and Rory to my daughter. And was saying to her how lovely, kind and respectful they were to my late, Mam Bridget Casey,. Whom use to take care of Mona's late father over 20 years ago. My late Mam always spoke very highly of Rory, Mona and their sons. My Mam, would have liked me to pay my respects to you Mona and your family. My deepest sympathy to you all. May he rest in peace.
Just returned from a short trip abroad and was very saddened to hear of Rory's passing. We had played football together many times in College Park & elsewhere in he 1960's. He always played with great commitment & sportsmanship to set an example to his peers who tended to be younger due to his extended academic career..
We lost touch after College, but met occasionally at airports & suchlike. The TCD football guys of that era will be very sorry to hear this sad news.
Several years ago I spoke with you Mona to see if Rory would be able to join us for a planned TCD football reunion, but unfortunately you explained that his circumstances wouldn't permit that.

Please accept my sincere condolences at this difficult time. Tom Mears
To Mona and family, my deepest sympathy on the passing of Rory. May he rest in peace.

In the early 1970s Rory founded the Medical Specialist group of The Irish Computer Society and was its first chair. I had the privilege of being its Secretary. We worked together for many years/decades where Rory ensured we were represented in Europe and Internationally putting Ireland in the forefront of this new discipline.. This was recognised, as below :-

The O'Moore Medal

This award has been named after Professor Rory O'Moore, Chairman of the Section of Healthcare Informatics in the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and of the Irish Computer Society. He was a past chairman of HISI and the European Federation for Medical Informatics. The award was inaugurated by An Taoiseach Mr. Bertie Ahern T.D in 2003 who presented the medal to Prof. O'Moore for his contribution to the development of Healthcare Informatics in Ireland.

On a personal note Rose and I would like to convey our condolences to Mona and her family.

I have no words that can convey fully my thanks to Rory as a friend to Rose and myself, and as a colleague over those years.

Our thought and prayers will always be with him, Mona and his family.
Dear Mona,
On behalf of Siobhán and myself I would like to extend our most sincere condolences to yourself, Garret, Olaf and Runar on the passing of Rory.
His and my paths first crossed back in Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital, when water baths, test tubes, pipettes and the never to be forgotten Folin and Wu tubes (for measuring blood glucose) were still the order of the day. By the time retirement arrived, the laboratory was analysing and measuring specimens using the most complex and sophisticated technology and instrumentation ( - science fiction film stuff). As another colleague remarked - " We lived and worked in a golden age for laboratory medicine". To know and to work with Rory O'Moore was like being given a special gift. He was an unique person and was, in every sense of the words, a gentle man. His was a life well lived Rest in peace my friend.

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Rory. I first got to know him well in the early 1980s when I became involved in IT in the health area. We worked together on many European Community projects over the years that followed and I found him very welcoming and friendly Rory recognised the need and importance of education and training in health informatics and was involved in setting up many courses and conferences over the years in which he invited me to participate
With sincere sympathy to his wife Mona and family
May he rest in peace

My dear Mona
On behalf of your long time friends, my dear late parents Jim and Eilis, I would like to express my very sincere sympathies to you and Garret, Olaf and Runar on the passing of Prof Rory, your lovely husband and father. He was such a gentleman with an encyclopedic knowledge of chemical pathology and generous to a fault with his time and that knowledge. His lovely sense of humour brightened many a lecture. Rest in peace now Prof. Dear Mona I hope all your treasured memories will sustain you and comfort you over the coming difficult days, weeks and months ahead. I will be thinking of you all. Niamh xx
Both Anne & myself are very sorry to hear of Rory’s passing. He was a really nice gentleman & we always enjoyed his company. I knew he wasn’t in the best of health in recent years but nevertheless his passing leaves a big void in your family. May be rest in peace & I hope you & your family will be comforted by the very nice tributes paid to Rory.
So sad to learn of Rory's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Rory in the healthcare group of the Irish computer society where he was the inspiration for putting Ireland firmly on the medical informatics map and bringing many of his international colleagues in the field to Dublin. A great mentor and friend to so many of us working in healthcare computing. Deepest sympathy to Mona & family
It was with great sadness I learnt of the death of my very good friend and former colleague, Rory. I had the great pleasure of working with Rory for many years in his professional capacity as a consultant chemical pathologist in Blackrock Clinic and St. James's Hospital. I was also fortunate to have been part of his wider circle of friends where we played golf and socialised on many occasions over the years. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Mona, Garret, Olaf and Runar and other members of his extended family and his many friends.
Deepest sympathies to Mona and the family at this difficult time. I hope you find some comfort and solace in the days ahead.

It was with great sadness that I and the staff in the Biochemistry Department, St James’s Hospital heard about Rory’s passing. Rory was the founder of the department and ensured throughout his tenure that this laboratory reflected an ethos of quality and diagnostic excellence, which continues to this day. Moreover, he left an indelible legacy, including the Porphyrin Laboratory, which he established and which remains the only diagnostic service of its kind in Ireland. He had great foresight and vision in terms of future developments in laboratory medicine, including the application of computational approaches to diagnostic support and outpatient services. In many respects he was ahead of his time on such matters. On a personal note I would like to recognize the part Rory played in providing me with the opportunity to pursue Chemical Pathology as a career. He was a true gentleman, great mentor and I am among many in this discipline who would acknowledge Rory as the “Father of Chemical Pathology” in the Republic of Ireland.

May Rory rest in peace.
Our sympathy to Mona, Olaf, Garret and Runar on the passing of Rory. He is now in peace. He will always stay in your hearts.
Sincerest sympathies to Mona and the boys on the death of a true friend. We spent many great days together through the Federated Dublin Voluntary Hospitals, Sir Patrick Dun's and St James's Hospitals. It has been a long time. Farewell Rory.
Our deepest sympathy to Mona, Garret, Olaf and Runar on the passing of Rory. May he rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to Mona and the boys on the death of Rory. I worked with Rory for many years in both Sir Patrick Dun’s Hospital and St James’s Hospital. He was a true gentleman. Ar dhéis Dé go raibh a ainm dílís. Pauline Hannon
