It is with great sadness that I heard of the death of a great mentor of mine Professor James Devlin
He was passionate about Endocrinology and pioneered the use of insulin pumps and was an expert on Growth Hormone.
He was Consultant Endocrinologist in Beaumont and James Connolly Memorial as well as lecturing medical students in RCSI not to mention also working in Richmond Cappagh and Navan
His work ethic was immense and he had a very sharp wit which we all enjoyed
While he was a fantastic physician he was ultimately a family man and he was very proud when his children Dr Joe and Dr Nina followed him into medicine
He was a genius but also a true gentleman and he will be very sadly missed but will always be remembered.
Deepest sympathy to the family of Prof. Devlin, he was a real gentleman. May he rest in peace.
Jim was a wonderful teacher and mentor who guided me in the early years of my career in The Richmond Hospital. To Nina and all of Jim's family, please accept my deepest sympathy.
