Deepest sympathy to Rays family. We were very sad to hear of his passing. He always had such a welcome for us when we came to Redcross on our visits back to Ireland. A real gentleman, a great storyteller and a wonderful sense of humour. We will miss you.

I met Rae when I worked on the CE scheme in the early 90's in Wicklow Town. He was a wonderful character and the most helpful and considerate man. I have often thought of him over the years and I was extremely sad to hear of his passing. A true gentleman whose company I enjoyed albeit briefly. May he rest in peace and my sincere sympathy to his family and friends.

I remember him from many years ago when he worked in Wicklow County Council.

We received the news of the passing of our dear Rae, the founder of MDR, our friend, with great sadness. We will forever be thankful for knowing Rae, big papa, a great man, who loved bringing people together. We will miss our Skype meetings, talks and the twinkle in his eyes. Condolences to the Dineen family. Rae will forever live in our hearts.

We were honored to know Rae in our lives. Rae has been part of our journey in life for the past 20 years, with renewed friendship even if only for a single annual meeting. A few hours together, but always intense and important. Thank you for being there, a great friend and a great person. To all our friends and family, please know that we will always carry him in our hearts. As we used to say goodbye at the end of every MDR: hugs and kisses.

He was a dear friend, a special person, that at least everybody should have known once in own life. We were lucky to meet him. It seems that important people will always remain, despite the evidence. I write this with great sadness hearing the news of the passing of one of our founding members Mr Rae Dineen.
Rae was part of the work team in 1980s who had the foresight to develop a fly-fishing club at the Ashtown Lane Reservoir. In 1984 Vartry Angling Wicklow was born.
On what is the 40th anniversary of the VAC we acknowledge the work Rae and the founding members have done for the club and all its members over the years we are forever in your debt. Rest in peace Rae and our sincerest condolences to the Dineen family at this sad time. From all at Vartry Angling Wicklow.

Dear Simone, Dear Pietar and families,
We would like to express our sympathy to you in these sad times. The news of the death of your dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather is now a sad certainty, also for us.
We are very grateful that we were able to get to know your parents 27 years before. The long friendship with Rae and Anna means a lot to us. We always enjoyed their hospitality, the evenings together in Redcross in their house or with live music in Mick Cullens, the visits and walks in Glenmalure and of course the annual meetings of the MDR. All this will no longer be possible as it was before. We will also miss Rae now, but we will continue to carry him in our thoughts and our hearts.
