Ray Doherty

I have just found out about Ray’s passing and am very sorry for his partner Nora , family and friends xx
I met Ray in our ward of 4 in the Mater in 2018. I was only in for appendicitis but I knew Ray had a battle on his hands. We clicked immediately and sat up one day and had a joke off lasting an hour! He could really tell a joke. We exchanged numbers and shared hundreds of jokes and funny stories in the years since on the phone. He was bright , optimistic and a fighter. He never complained. When I hadn’t heard from him for a few weeks I feared the worst. Rest In Peace Ray-you were a good and decent man. Wherever you are in the spiritual paradise you will literally keep them laughing for eternity. Glad to have known you XJames

Niamh and I are so sad to hear of Ray’s death. I got to know Ray in 2018 while both of us soldiered together in the Mater Hospital. What a wonderful guy ! He inspired all of the patients in St. Monica’s Ward with his positivity and caring nature, his witty and entertaining personality, we shared so many laughs together !
