Sad to hear of Raymond’s passing, which seems like the end of an era for that generation from Cherrymount. Raymond was always a happy presence, greeting children and adults alike with warmth and politeness. A gentleman of the old school, well brought up by his mother, who was also a strong presence in the neighbourhood.
May he rest in peace.
May he rest in peace.
Happy memories of a lovely neighbour.
May he rest in eternal peace.
My sincere sympathy to all his loved ones.
May he rest in eternal peace.
My sincere sympathy to all his loved ones.
Heartfelt sympathies to the niece, nephews and extended family as Ray has entered Eternal Life.
We fondly remember back in the 1960’s and 1970’s, our Father ( Anthony or Tony ) delivering drink on his way home from his premises to the Bradley’s in number 26.
Ray was the last of that generation from our childhood days in Cherrymount Park.
He was a polite gentleman, happy with a pleasant smile who was always in good humour and yet while he was a private man he was friendly and engaging.
Can still see Ray walking in the area as he always saluted everyone he knew and in his later years used to call me – Mr Burke Junior.
Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the Removal or the Funeral mass.
May he rest in heavenly peace in his Eternal Home with wife Lil, his parents and siblings.

Condolences to Ray’s family. Ray was one of the characters of my childhood growing up in Cherrymount. I remember his mother !
