Raymond was our Dads best pal and I have very fond memories of the Keane family, we used to look forward to them visiting when home from
Brussels, and we enjoyed many a summer holiday together in Kerry.

Raymond was a great character, loyal friend, with a brilliant sense of humour, great Irish speaker, incredibly generous and above all a very talented musician, I looked forward to hearing him play the guitar and sing late through the night at New Year’s Eve parties. Fantastic memories of a truly lovely man.

I will always remember him as the person who welcomed me on my first day at the European Commission in Ireland over 20 years ago. He made a great and lasting impression on me with his kindness and caring attitude.

I worked with Raymond in the Commission Representation in Ireland from 1994 to 2000.

Raymond was a wonderful colleague. Always in a good mood. Knowledgeable about so many things. I recall all his efforts to explain EU issues to journalists and other media personalities. He would give me advice when I was involved in various information campaigns.

I went back to Brussels in 2001 and lost touch with Raymond. However I will never forget my years working with him. When I think back to them I only have good feelings.

Sincerest condolences to Anne and the family. I have great memories of working with Raymond in the EU representation in Dublin from '94 to 98.
Raymond and I then moved more or less simultaneously to the FVO in Blackrock, Clonskeagh and eventually to Grange for the next twenty years or so.
Raymond was always the best of fun and a great colleague to work with.
May he rest in peace in one of the many places he loved so well.

We enjoyed our sing songs together and I have lovely memories of Raymond playing his guitar and singing with the office choir for years at Christmas time. Firstly in Clonskeagh and then moving to the FVO office in Meath from where I retired in 2023. I am forever grateful to him for giving me the chance to have a good career.
