My condolences to the King family. You lost a giant. Mr. King educated so many amazing Kildare folk, including at least one global superstar. He was a great exemplar of positive education techniques at a time when the Irish education system was still shaking off harsher approaches to discipline. On a personal level, I will never forget how he gave both my mother and my sister big breaks in their careers as teachers. The world needs more enlightened and dedicated educators like Raymond King.

funeral when I heard of his passing.

Raymond taught our two boys. He always worked closely with the Parents Association for the betterment of the school. He built the recreation Hall against the odds to ensure that the pupils enjoyed physical activities.

I only learned today of your dad’s passing today. As you know he was a great help to me as I started out as a principal when very little support was available at that time. He was a lovely kind and hardworking man and had a very positive effect on me and the whole education system. You are all in my thoughts and prayers 🙏

In 1997, shortly after emigrating, I wrote to my old hurling coach and choirmaster, Mr. King, to fill him in on what I'd been up to in the decade since I'd last seen him. Recently I found his response to that letter, one of the few surviving items I'd brought with me to NYC from Ireland. I remember asking my parents on my confirmation day, to get a photo of Mr King and I, such was his positive influence on me. Seemingly he was that inspiration to many generations of school kids. Best wishes to his family and friends, a wonderful man. R.I.P.

Dear Mrs King and Family,

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Raymond or as I always referred to him as, Mr. King. I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Mr King was not only an exceptional teacher and Principal but also an inspirational leader who had a rare gift of always knowing the right words to say at the right time. His kindness, encouragement and ability to see the best in people, helped so many fulfil their potential, myself included. I will always remember the warmth and joy he brought each Christmas at midnight Mass, leading the choir with such spirit and grace. He touched countless lives through his guidance and example, and his legacy as a true leader who led with his heart, will live on in all of us who were fortunate enough to learn from him.
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Mr King you will be sadly missed, but your influence and inspiration will continue to guide many of us for years to come. With Deepest Sympathy, Mr King rest in peace.
