Raymond (Ray) Burke

I fondly remember my trip to Dublin and the hospitality of Ray and the family when I came to visit - including a personalised Tour de Dublin in Ray's car, and many a Guinness at the local! May I pass on my sympathies from the whole of the Cotter family. - Alex Cotter

It is with great fondness that we remember Ray, his practicality, his expertise and generosity served our school so well as Ray was a long time loyal member of the Board of Management of our school and we were the richer for his presence and his effort. Ever the GENTLEman. Always attentive and good humoured, Ray was a super supporter of all that his children were involved in! My sincere condolences to Ray’s wife, children and the extended Burke family. Just last week while driving my grandson to his music lesson he told me excitedly about a new guitar tune he had taught himself by the Allman brothers. He asked me if I had heard of them. I was instantly transported back to the summer of 1972 and the pavilion of Castleview LTC where Ray Burke had, on vinyl, an LP Eat a Peach by a band I had never previously heard of. I am very saddened, so soon afterwards, to hear of Ray's death. It is clear that he was much loved, I hope his family derive solace from this knowledge. Our respective fathers soldiered together for many years in the VdP. Good men all. RIP.

I was sad to learn of Ray’s recent death. We shared a birthday, we soldiered in Castleknock College for six years and I had the pleasure of enjoying his company for nearly six decades. Deepest condolences to Laura and family.
