My Reme,
Thank you for the opportunity of being your mother, and for giving me so much love and inspiration to face life’s journey. You were my strength when I was weak, my sunshine in grey skies, my joy in every moment, my hope in despair,, and my motivation when moods were low. You taught me how to wear and carry pain so beautifully decorated with so much love and courage, exuding strength. You taught me how to travel through life’s journey with grace. And grace was sufficient for us at all times. Your strength was admirable, and you never gave up! You remained positive in every aspect of life, and you always won all battles. Your special abilities exceeded any expectations.Your intelligence was unimaginable, and when in conversations, you positioned your ideas within great context. Your persona was rare and unique, filled with so much love, kindness, smiles and laughter that brightened any space you graced. You were a great achiever, and a visionary set out to change the world. Through you, many lives have been impacted. You were an ambassador, a trailblazer, and the FACE of Sickle Cell Advocacy in Ireland. YOUR LEGACY will LIVE ON my princess.
Losing you my Angel was a battle lost, but not a war lost. We shall build a Reme’s Sickle Cell battalion for your sake.

Reme girl,

It’s still so hard to believe that you’re gone. I find myself staring at the picture wall in your room at random times during the day without really thinking anything or feeling anything —just still disbelief that we’re never going to hear your voice or see your smile again. I remember how you used to follow me around when we were younger. I didn’t understand it then and a lot of times I just wanted my own space but now, I’d give anything to have you follow me around just one more time.

I’m thankful that we got to experience you, and your strength, and your beautiful smile. You will live forever in our hearts, now and always.

There are no words on how much I miss you every single day. There isn’t a day that goes by that I haven’t taught about you. I miss your positivity, honesty, your purity and wildness! I miss our hours of phone calls we have and just our silliness and your laughter.
Your strength, love, kindness and most of all the friendship you gave to me over the past 13 years is I am forever grateful. I am so proud you for fight that you gave. You were a inspiration to everyone around you with your fearlessness and positivity.

Hey Reme,

The thought that you are gone still hurts now as much as it did when I found out. Today happens to be one of the bad days, sometimes it feels like the only cure is to hear your voice or be with you again. I’m still adjusting to my new reality, I don’t know if I will ever fully adjust because you’re all I’ve known for the last 21 years. My big sister. I miss you and I love you. I know you’re protected by God and having fun with the angels and that’s better than the care you could have received from any doctor, or even us.

I think of you all the time and always remember the few memories we had wishing you were still here to create more. I know God is watching over you for us and you are better with him. We miss and love you.

You have gone too soon. Yes much too soon. It breaks the heart when a mother buries her baby. It is usually supposed to be the other way round. That our kids bury us when we are old and ready to join the Lord.

The departure of Reme , my niece was a shocking one to me and the family.
We were actually broken hearted by the news. However, we got comfort r knowing Reme was resting in the Lord's bossom and she had made so much impact on lives within a brief time on earth, .We hold on to God who will wipe our tears completely someday

Now, we only pray the good Lord to comfort you all and grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. When you think of Reme, please think of the hope she gave to the vulnerable, think of the sunshine she brought into our lives and think on the legacy she left behind

I first heard of Beautiful Reme today through her mother's radio interview. I am a retired doctor and during my time in London saw how quickly people with sickle could deteriorate. I agree with Remes mother that there should be priority routes through A&E and information and contact available to staff who are not familiar with sickle. I had the absolute privilege of teaching Reme in the first & second year of her BA in Community Development. She was a really wonderful young woman.
