I was so sad to learn of Renee’s sudden passing. I first got to know her when she lived in Brighton Vale and will never forget her kindness to me and my family. She was the most exhilarating, funny and warm company. Her indomitable generous life-loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who were privileged to have moved in her special orbit. Rest with the angels, lovely Renee. I’m sure they’re delighted to have made your acquaintance.
So sorry to hear. She brought joy to everyone who met her, and will be greatly missed.
Very sad to learn of Renee's death. She was my first yoga teacher, in Trinity in the late 70s, and subsequently became a great friend. I think she had more friends and interests than almost anyone I have ever known. Typically she was out at several events every day - art, music, dance, theatre, cinema, auctions etc - and I never went out with her but she was hailed by numerous friends. She had great zest for life and was almost always in good form, even though she had some very tough times with ill-health. She loved travel and new experiences, but was incredibly loyal to old friends as well. She seemed to have friends of all ages from 0 to 100 (and perhaps over). I think she was greatly loved. Very glad to have known her.
so sorry to hear the sad news of renee death a lovely person used to meet in herman auction all ways in a good mood may she RIP
Renée was truly the most wonderful person. We’ll miss her laugh, her enthusiasm and her constant goodwill and support. With love and gratitude for great times.
So many happy memories, Renee. The pic of you, me, and Alwyn shopping in Dublin 35-years-ago is on the pinboard above my desk. Thank you for joyful times - staying with you en famille and in recent years the trips to London and, just before your death, catch ups with old friends around our kitchen table and an evening of music with LWIII. You remain an important touchstone in my life and that of the girls.
What a joy Renee was to be around. Delighted to have had the chance to show her the beauties of Bermuda last year and to spend many delightful times in her company. One of a kind. xx
I have such fond memories of Renée growing up. With her visits to to our house and us going to hers. I dont think I ever left her house without acquiring an exciting new book to read, and my head full of her own interesting stories.

She led such a full and interesting life and I know she will be very much missed by so many.

So rest happy now lovely Renée, we'll think of you often with a smile for all the happy moments we shared with you, and for the joy and fun you brought to the world.
Condolences to Kerry,John, Shay and all the lawless family on the sad passing of Renée, may she rest in peace.
I met the wonderful & fabulous Renee nicknamed "Siren" when I was 14 years old & visiting my sister in NYC with our Mom & Renee was one of my sister's roomates in the 1960s. She was so kind & generous to us, taking us around NYC & out to dinner. I never ever forgot her. I did not see her again until 2022 at a Memorial service for my sister in the US & she invited me & my nieces to come visit. I finally made that visit this past June & spent 4 wonderful days with her that I will never forget. I was shocked to learn of her passing. She was a gift to the world & I feel so blessed to have spent that time with her. She was so beloved by many & will be sorely missed.
Condolences to Renee’s family. I knew her from attending gigs over the years and was always delighted to see her. A stalwart of the music world.
I feel truly blessed to have known you, Renee. From our early days at TCD in the late '70s and early '80s, where you guided me as my yoga teacher, to the cherished time we spent as housemates at Brighton Vale, Seapoint, before you found that bijou home in Louis Lane, your very own Aladdin’s cave of antiques, art, literature and recorded music a place symbolic of your unique and generous spirit. As is the treasured gift print of an old Dublin vista as seen from the Phoenix Park you gave Claudia and me for our wedding.

Reconnecting with you in recent years, whether in London or Dublin, brought immense joy to my heart. Your loving and generous nature touched everyone you met. I have no doubt that you have been welcomed through the Pearly Gates with a VIP backstage pass, granting you access to all the heavenly realms.

Rest in peace, dear Renee. 🙏 🥰

It was a huge shock to hear of Renée's sudden death. With her eternal smile and her upbeat demeanour, she was one of those people one expected to always be around. I met her so often on the streets in Rathmines and she was unfailingly enthusiastic, bubbly and warm. A light is quenched all too soon. Deepest sympathy to her family and friends. I am so sorry to hear of Renee’s passing. I first got to know her many years ago when she was Secretary of Leinster Rd Rathmines Residents Association. Renee continued over the decades to take a very active interest in community development and Conservation issues. She was so pleasant to meet and always worked in the interest of her community. She certainly left her mark for the better. May she rest in peace
Rest in Peace Rene a special lady

Laughter, stimulating conversations and wonderful antique childrens' books are what immediately come to my mind when I think of Renee! I loved when you would arrive at our house as invariably you came laden with books for myself and my sister which would be read and reread till the pages almost fell out. Dublin lost a wonderful soul in your passing but am sure they are delighted up there in the blue yonder catching up with you! Renee I also hope you can read all the beautiful tributes that have been written here and that you know how many people you have touched over the course of your life, you left us all enriched. Shine on up there and may our paths all cross in the future.
Sorry to hear about the passing of Renee, my sincere sympathy and condolences to all the Lawless family.

So sorry to hear the sad news, dear Renée had a touch of magic about her and could pass joy on to everyone she met. She will be sorely missed.
So shocked and so sad this evening to learn of this news. Such a lovely, effervescent & vivacious woman. She made a huge impression on me when I first met her when I was around 14 years of age. A wonderful supporter of music, and of artists. Endlessly generous and kind, Renee seemed to be in every theatre, concert hall, or venue on any given night. I’ll miss her smile & her warmth. Go gently Renee…
Renée was the smile of Louis Lane, always brightening up the day with a little conversation when you bumped into her. We will clearly miss her meteorological advice before our walk. May she rest in peace and continue to enjoy her walks from where she is.

I was blessed to have met and known Renee many years ago whilst working with Paul Brady, she would always show up and join us backstage after the Gig for a good ould chat and a bit of Banter. Renee was a truly vibrant and fun lady who absolutely adored Music & the Arts, she will be sorely missed by everyone that knew her. May I pass on my deepest sympathies to all of Renee’s Family and friends.

My condolences to her family.
Sincere condolences to the Lawless families on the sad passing of Renée, may she Rest in Peace.
A truly unique lady who will be dearly missed. We go back over 50 years to her New York days and there was never a dull moment when Siren was around! She was also a tour guide/traveler/hostess extraordinaire with such a wide variety of interests. We feel lucky to have shared so many laughs and adventures in later years …..in Dublin at Guinness, in Paris and at the French Open, in Scotland and all around Renee’s Irish turf and beyond.
A life well lived indeed. Au revoir Renee
For 25 years our Irish-Bolivian-German friendship has been full of laughter, interesting stories and people, great music, films, celebrations and travels. Who would have thought this would evolve when I moved into your house in Louis Lane. Thank you for being such a loyal friend and for always showing great interest in my extended family. We will miss you. Rest in peace.
Renee was my very dear friend for almost 60 years. We were roommates in Washington DC and she was at my wedding. Renee was warmhearted and generous, full of good spirits and laughter. We had so many great - and occasionally crazy - times with Renee over the years on visits and traveling together. Always we went to an art gallery or concert when we could. I have wonderful memories of our many times together with
Renee. I will miss Renee so much.
My sympathy to Renee's family and many friends in IRELAND.
We were blessed to have Renee as a neighbour for 20 years. She had a deep appreciation of the arts - especially music, painting, gardening and cuisine. We have fond memories of attending fantastic concerts and parties with Renee over the years - not to mention the legendary book club. She was also superb at helping in all sorts of practical ways. It is very hard to say goodbye to this utterly unique woman.
So sad to hear the news about Renée. Comhbhrón ó chroí. Ag éisteacht le ceol na n-aingil anois.
Renée was a lovely neighbour in Louis Lane - always smiling and friendly. She's a loss to our little community. May she rest in peace.
Our heartfelt condolences to Renée's family. We were so saddened to hear of her death. It was always such a joy to be in her company, Renee will be greatly missed.
I only met Renee in latter years( at a Yoga class that had some culture and social outings also!) and was very privileged to have known her. As others have said, she was such fun and full of advice on films, art and health!! She will be miseed! Rest in peace Renee.
My first awareness of Renée was when she attended a presentation of The Children's Centre project in the mid nineties.
My second awareness of Renée was when she correctly warned a public meeting in Rathmines, that the then proposed introduction of €20 fee to lodge an observation on a planning application was the thin edge of a wedge intended to minimise public participation in the planning process.
Since then I have had the pleasure of meeting Renée in all sorts of places.
I did not know her very well but I did enjoy her friendliness, her huge zest for people, for music and travel and of course her laugh.
Looking forward to tasting Renée's Lemon chutney & brown sugar 2024.
RIP
Rest in peace Renee
