I served with Capt Jack in the Congo with the 34th Irish Bn in 1960/61. Although we are both Doneraile natives, I never met him in Doneraile but had many interesting conversations while serving with the United Nations Forces. He was a genuine Officer who always was concerned with our welfare and was encouraging to all in difficult times. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

We have fond memories of Jack dating back to the seventies. In his service to the local community, he was always so generous, pro-active and showed great leadership. Ever good-humoured he had a commanding yet gentle presence and no surprise that he was so respected by all.
