I remember him well from St. Mels, and was lucky to meet him again in Dublin a few years ago.
He was a very kind and gentle Soul.

I have many happy memories of my time spent in Longford and being part of a gang of friends who spent an awful lot of time in the Tennis Club together. The McNultys lived nearby and were such good friends and a lovely family. My condolences to you all on the death of Gerard.

May Fr Gerry rest in peace. I appreciated my conversations with him over the years in Belfast, Dublin and by email. I enjoyed hearing him talk about his years in training in All Hallows. I also have happy memories of his late brother, Cyril, who was our family doctor in Greystones. May Gerry and Cyril now find light, happiness and peace in the Lord’s presence. Very sorry to hear of the passing of Fr Ger, the friendship between our families and his one of the great abiding memories of growing up in Longford. His visit to our house at 22 Main street when on holiday from America was always highly anticipated. His warmth and friendship was deeply valued by my parents, indeed by all in our family. All the boys in our family were kitted out by their parents Paddy and Lily at their drapery shop at Centenary square, both also remembered with great affection. The support of the family for ours continued down the years, my late brother Peter forever grateful for the advice, support and encouragement received from Michael. Fr Gerry was a glorious Uncle - warm, humourous, light hearted and so very encouraging to each of his Nephews and Nieces and loving to my Father and Mother, his brother and sister-in-law. He carried a deep spirituality lightly and was an inspiration to all of the solace of faith. I treasure the memories of Fr Gerry saying Mass in our home in Richmond and marrying my Husband, David, and me. We will have him ever in our thoughts and prayers.
